Fair trade - Now you guys are getting Elite...

This is my feeling exactly. how rich would games be if it was truly open play across ALL platforms. Why do us gamers still accept and get dictated to by the corporate bull of sony and Microsoft? its disgusting, pitting us against each other when we just truly want to play and to play with like minded people irrelevant of platform and location. THAT IS THE TRUE GAMING HEAVEN. Being able to co-op with fellow gamers anywhere in the world on any PLATFORM should be the minimum expectation, why have these poor poor barriers between people and platforms

I read this while watching E3 where some Darth Vader voice keeps saying, "Exclusive!" for XBox.. I'm sure Vader will be saying "Exclusive!" for PS4 later in E3.

It is not normally in the financial business interests of either Sony or Microsoft to open connectivity to a other partner.

Last gen, Sony were keen to tap into the multi-platforms dominated by Microsoft but weren't able to get to a deal. This generation, with the PS4 so heavily outselling the Xbox One, the boot is on the other foot and it is Microsoft campaigning for cross platform connectivity.

That said, cross platform is starting to happen on some games from launch (Star Trek: Bridge Commander being the latest example) or as a subsequent patch (Yesterday's announcement of Minecraft across all platforms - ironically except Sony)

Elite Dangerous started as a PC game and Frontier confirmed that as the BGS was shared that it would not be technically impossible to combine all Commanders into a single universe if Microsoft & Sony could get to an agreement, so here's hoping.

That said, a previous thread on this forum did highlight the issues with PS4 Commanders launching directly only a shared universe from day 1 as it would be ripe for gankers and griefers.

I wouldn't be adverse to a merge at some point in the future.

GM and Ford will never combine into one. That said, it's possible one can aquire the other. But that's two different issues.

Since you guys on PS4 are getting Elite, can we on Xbox please get No Man's Sky! Come on, it's only fair :D

Gorgeous looking game and fills in some planetside experiences missing from Elite. I love the whole discovering languages bit by bit and immersing yourself amongst the local fauna and flora

Oh well, looking forward to hearing how you PS4 owners get on with Elite, amazing game!

Sure - but seeing as Hello games dont give a fig what i think - don't hold your breath!
