Falling back in love with the cobra...

What with all the negativity and moaning I thought i'd relay a love story between a commander and his ship.

I've been patiently engineering my cobra (and still am not complete) but am remembering exactly why she wasn't sold off to fund another ship.

Sure my a rated python is "better" but the little C3 is just so much "funner" jetting around at a fair old lick enough pew to look after myself and that awesome historic feel.

Adding the guardian fsd boost and I've got almost 50ly range now she's just awesome.

However one quibble - why did they use the bottom two utility mounts instead of the top two? 😄

I used to use a modified Viper to do shady things because of it's size, shape and speed.

With the variety of shady things increasing, I needed more internals and a Cobra was my ship of choice.
It's not quite as fast as the Viper but it's good enough.

And then I think about what it'd be like if FDev introduced C4 EPTs and I make this face:-

Yeah, mine is called the "Boomerang Star," I have her set up with the orange and white paint job, two beams, two medium multicannons. A pirate killing work of art, so fun to fly. ;)

My only quibble is that the pilot isn't centered in the cockpit, for this reason I like my Mamba, the "Gunblazer X," a little bit better.

Wish we could get an Imperial Cobra. A centered utility slot top and bottom, two more on the top wing corners? Maybe four medium hard points? Oh yeah!

Interestingly the Cobra was the ship I was flying when I bought Horizons. The pilot seat was on the right, it changed with the Horizons update. Messed me up a bit. :)

I took back to my Cobra a few months back when I decided to fly (mostly) FA OFF. I very rarely jump into the other ships now.

I couldn't agree more. Easily my favourite ship.

I do wish FD would show it some love though. Activating the two additional utilities slots would be ideal. And perhaps -- even -- giving it access to Enhanced Performance Thrusters.

Absolutely, I'm never sorry to jump back in to the Cobra Mk III and take it for a spin.
It doesn't happen all that often these day (and not at all at the moment since I'm away from the bubble exploring) but it is always fun to come back to.
Personally I'd love to be able to hanger it in my big ship and take it out when a smaller size or greater speed would be a useful... Still, not likely we'll get that mythical Sidewinder bay so a full sized small bay that can take a Cobra seems a touch far fetched.

Hey! That's my ship, even the use....everything but the name - mine's called the Stillness Of Dumah.

Edit: Actually, looking at my details I went with medium beams and small canons. Either way, a cracking ship:)
