Falling Skimmer Re-imbursement timeframe?

Apologies if this is the wrong section of the forum to post this...

I've been in the game for almost two years now and played in a vacuum for most of it until signing up here. I didn't even know about the falling skimmer bug until reading about it here. I put in a ticket in the XB1 bugs sub-forum. The post was moved into the stickied post, so I know someone saw it. It's been well over a week and nothing has happened. I lost a crew member, carto-data, and an 8mil re-buy.

Not complaining at all, just wondering if I need to "do" anything else, or just be patient. I know there are loads of CMDR's out there. Just looking for advice.

I would recommend opening a Support ticket. The bug reporting forum is useful if it is a common game bug as it allows them to prioritize fixing the underlying bug, but in this case what you want is a reimbursement for your ship loss and that is usually best handled through Support. They will give you an individual reply, look into the situation and can reimburse your account for lost credits if they can clearly attribute the ship loss to a game bug. In most cases ramming a skimmer and suffering massive damage is "working as intended" because they specifically implemented this to avoid players being able to destroy skimmers easily by ramming, but if the skimmer spawned at high altitude (which is the bug I assume you're referring to) then that's a game bug that wasn't your fault.

I actually experienced this myself recently so I know exactly what you're referring to. I was flying a Python and boosting as I left a planet's surface and suddenly lost my shields, took some hull damage and my ship's systems went off-line so I couldn't maneuver until the main systems (engines, etc.) powered back up. I was high enough when I hit the skimmer that my ship wasn't destroyed, but it still knocked my shields down and with the ship systems off-line few seconds I would have likely crashed at lower altitude, especially if I were on a high-G planet. If I was flying a smaller ship instead of my well-armored Python I could have easily been destroyed by the impact itself. The only reason I knew it was a "bug" was because I had recently read about the skimmer bug on the forums, otherwise I would have been completely unaware of what damaged my ship and temporarily knocked systems offline since there was nothing I saw visually or on sensors prior to the impact as I was leaving the planet. It's sort of like an Elite version of bird strikes in an aircraft, there's very little you can do to avoid it before it happens so you should get a reimbursement fairly easily.

"A support ticket has now been created and an email confirming this has been sent to you. One of our team will get back to you shortly if necessary. "

Cheers, gents!

Anywhere between never and Soon™. Depends on who your ticket lands on, and whether they're feeling generous that day.

It took over 70 hours to respond to my ticket. But they eventually did and properly reimbursed me. This was right after the last patch (2.3.11) so they were really busy with all the issues.

Yeah support are generally pretty epic especially for what is a small company when compared to some of the multi-national gaming giants out there.

As Devari said:
Account issues, reimbursements and things of that nature where someone looks at your player/server/account logs and edits something -> Support
Something that went wrong that you want adding to the "issues to fix" list -> Bug reporting

Grieving from the game and not fellow CMDR's :),

Why not take the hit?? It's called Elite Dangerous ;-)

Had one yesterday for the first time. 46m rebuy and lots of rep lost due to missions failed.
Now i just don't to planetary outposts anymore, i learned and go on.

Good luck cmdr.

Because bugs are not part of a game... Except thargoids, those particular bugs are ;)

Yes some of us have a few billion in assets, I lost 20 odd million to a bug and didn't ask for a reimbursement. I also have a good 2700hrs in game and decent free time. Others have so many IRL commitments that every hour and every million credits is crucial.

It's all about whats fair. Killed by something that shouldn't happen because the game code is bugged, it's fair to get the rebuy back.

I agree totally (not that anyone should care ;-))

24 hours to respond...only to tell me that I gave them the wrong email address :x

Once I gave them the correct one, I had the rebuy refunded, all data and my crewman returned in less than 24 hours. Thanks to CMDRs Miu~ and Tronador.

Well, I didn't see that coming, literally!

I just reported my 'incident' as a bug.
10.6MCr rebuy.

Let's see how long it takes.

Bug reporting kicks stuff to the QA team, who I can't imagine have GM-level access.

You want: https://support.frontier.co.uk/kb/ A ticket here will land in the inbox of someone who CAN and WILL reimburse skimmer kills. As of this post, they're under 48 hours in the response time.

I just got complete compensation after submitting a ticket for lost items yesterday. Frontier sent me the following email:
"Thanks for getting in touch. We're looking into this skimmer bug as a matter of priority but in the meantime you can avoid them by not using autodock and by slowing your descent into planetary stations, causing the skimmers to collide harmlessly with the ground.
I've restored all credits, data and vouchers lost as a result of deaths caused by this bug. :)
Please let me know if I can help any further."
Until the bug is fixed I'm not going to dock at planetary stations anymore.
