Falling Stars: War of Empires - New 4x Arena-style Space Opera Strategy Game

Full Disclosure: I developed this game, over the course of 3 years in my "spare time" (On train rides/in the twilight of early morning/during toddler naps)

Alright, disclosure out of the way, Falling Stars is a grand strategy game where empires are struggling to keep diplomatic and political relationships alive in the midst of total galactic warfare. It's not just a "cream your opponent and win" type game. You need to excel at literally every aspect of the game, technological advancement, diplomacy, politics, exploration, trade, and of course battle, to come out on top.

I made this game as a passion project because I couldn't find a game that catered to the backstabbing that happens in board games with the awesome visual/computational benefits you get from a video game like strong AI opponents, online matchmaking, and huge fantastic exploding space battles. There are also some key mechanics in the game that are totally unique, like political agendas in the galactic council that fundamentally alter the base rule set of the game to give it this wild-wild-west sandbox feel.

I'm a huge fan of Frank Herbert's Dune, and I tried to capture how technical and subtle galactic rivalries are. Because of this, you can be at total war with someone, but still negotiating with them at the round table. I think this makes the game more "realistic" (if you can call something so hypothetical and theoretical realistic) in that wars between empires are not one-dimensional.

Anyways, there's a ton to this game and that's just an introduction, it's actually almost done and I have a general overview video here that takes you through the first round of play.

I'm looking for any and all feedback, so join me in bringing this game to life and making it the best it can be. I'm the sole designer, so you can have a big part in shaping this game. Thanks,

Philip
