Famine Relief - how to sell food!?

So, I managed to find a system marked as Famine, picked up some food (Animal Meat, Tea, etc.) and went to the "Seeking Food" destination in the system, which has a bunch of Type-9's saying "Sell us your food" (or to that effect). Question is: how do you actually sell stuff to these guys? Anyone knows? Tried jettisoning (both types), tried flying close to them, but nothing seems to work. What's the mechanic? Happy to help out, but.. how?

My understanding is based on broken data because unfortunately I cant find the thread where I asked. I suspect it was in the Gamma discussions which have now been closed. It entails flying REAL close to the beasts. But you also need the correct cargo.

Perhaps someone else can provide more detail, since Ive never actually done it myself.

Check the Transactions screen?

I've never dealt with these guys before, but that's where your missions live. It must pop up in there for you to accept.

Yes I recall this discussion during early beta too... the general consensus was to fly close to them and the transfer should automatically take place.

However, no idea if the process is different now from Beta. I, too, have had no personal experience in these kinds of transaction.

You need to be close enough, closer than 400 meters or so and have cargo they want. Then you see blue text about transaction made when the trade is done. No need to click or activate anything. Hope this helps.

Thanks, that helped! So for the record, if you find a famine, do the above but make sure you have Food Cartridges, as that seems to be the only type of food accepted. I got 272Cr/unit. Won't make a fortune this way, but still nice.

they may want synthetic meat or food cartridges instead of real meat etc.
