Fans asked and a day later EA answered

EA having better community relations? This is the same company that has marketing team that said and I quote “everyone only cares about the multiplayer” before people bought, installed, and played Star Wars Fallen Order and proved the entire marketing team wrong with them saying and I also quote “we were surprised that the game (Star Wars Fallen Order) was successful.” If anything they have worse relations with their own community with all of monetization that goes on with their products, with the worse one being so incredibly blatant that entire countries were considering bringing them up on illegal gambling. Yeah. They’re terrible.

EA is a veteran of getting mired in a firestorm. Their brand has already become a gold standard of how an industry SHOULDN'T be. I don't think they have much of a choice, lest they flop another project with backlash. Most of their recently released titles were dumped on Steam at a price range of 39.99 to 49.99. Which is... like... mind-blowing move from EA... considering how they are known to be profit-first and Steam takes a chunk out of the commission. And since they decided not to do business with Steam few months ago.

Frontier... idk... They haven't been punched, slapped, and spat on as hard as EA lol

Just cosmetic microtransactions supposedly, so EA on their best behaviour.

No Legs tho ;)

Still, VR Star Wars hijinks? With at least a bit of energy management, and some dodging through narrow gaps, going by the sizzle reel. Day one for me :)

EDIT:

Bonus VR freebies in the meantime for anyone with that hankering ;)

Review: Project Stardust

This is a great little freebie! Having all the full Star Wars dialogue and music build as you head towards the Death Star or barrel down the later stretches of the trench run is pretty hair-tingling.

Loving the extra touches like the virtual cockpit buttons for radar & firing mode and such. The motion controller inputs work well (I like the 'roll on one hand yaw on the other, with both doing pitch' set up - very intuitive). There's a certain inertia to the craft which means the trench run is tough but not completely unfair, once you learn to boost out of collisions (rather than using the daft-but-necessary 'air brake' :D).

I still haven't aced the run - I'm assuming you have to beat the timer rather than dodge Darth's wrath, so I'm just going as fast as possible...

Ultimately, it's mainly a minor endurance mini-game all about making that trench run, with a bit of pew-pew pre-amble. But I honestly can't fault it for that :D

Aww well damn, now I have to play this too. Some guy's Unity build from back in 2016...

It's EA, hard to compare them to Fdev. EA is always 1 step forward between 2-5 back as far as the customers are concerned. So tuned out to them, I had not even heard of this game coming out untiol this thread. Will have to see what shenanigans they get up to with the game in the year after it is released. Launch, then wreck a few months later with micro transaction, P2W features, and more invasive (to almost spyware levels) DRM and anti-cheat, is not as unheard of as it should be.

Clearly, via the criteria established in the original post, FD’s community response is much better than EA’s!

😉

Er... why in dis forum?
It's the only Fdev forum I look at (and the VR one tho I assume Fdev don't frequent that one much).

(not @ Drelthar)
As for EA, they are scum, haven't bought an EA game since the simcity debacle. They've done more to destroy the gaming industry than any corporation I know (and that includes Daybreak), their greed knows no bounds, so for them to even add VR into one of their AAA games means they can smell blood in the water (I will get that shark analogy down one day).
And the question we wanted answered is a yes / no question: Are you doing your darnedness to get VR into Odyssey or are you pulling a PSVR answer on us about VR and not actually working on it at all.
We understand (and by we I mean I as in this forum you can't speak for others) that there might be a delay in getting VR working and we (I) don't expect them to delay it for our (my) sake.
It would just be nice to get an honest response without the doublethink tactics (political style speech that talks much without saying anything).

This really shouldn't be here... I won't be posting whole stories of how EA employees were posting like 13 y.o. edgelords to major community creators who gave decent feedback on how to improve next year project in very polite manner of the game series, EA have been literally destroying for past decade, culminating in latest interation being simply unplayable for at least half of it's playerbase. There's no worse company in the world than EA. I have a lot of gripe FDev, but comparing them to EA is really stepping out of line.

I bought that Simcity as well... 😣 (So many equations and calculations for the complex background process it must be always online... 🤣)

I would check this out if I could get it independently of Origin. But yeah I don't think I've played an EA game since Simcity / Sims 3 / Battlefield 2142.
