General / Off-Topic Far Cry 5 Graphics

I'm personally not a fan of the Far Cry games, but I am a fan of their graphics and open worlds. Here's an interesting video detailing what the latest game achieves graphics-wise on PS4 and PS4 Pro.

I can't help but compare this to ED on PS4, particularly when it comes to shadows, LOD management, higher resolutions on the Pro, and HDR support. IIRC, this is not a PS4 exclusive, which shows that even cross-platform games can look amazing on our consoles.

Yeh, watched this earlier an impressive 1620p on PS4 Pro, we still slum it at 1080p on Elite. Thinking about picking this up at some point. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it Ubisoft are good at pushing console pixels. Frontier have a long way to go on PS4 work.

I noticed that Jurrasic World Evolution is now available for pre-order on PS4, does boast PS4 Pro support but no details on resolution unfortunately, does include HDR support however. This may indicate what the Cobra engine can (or can't) do on PS4.

Very disappointing for me is the JWE cost, the deluxe edition is actually more expensive than the first party Sony, triple A, God of War Deluxe which drops next month. GoW will feature supperb Pro support and push the console hard by first looks.

I paid more for ED than I normally do for a game because I "had" to have it on launch day. Since then it's dropped in price and seen some amazing sales, so if I get JWE, I'll wait for a sale. I'm not a "dinosaur fanatic", so normally I wouldn't be interested in JWE, but if the price were right, I might pick it up. I will definitely pay attention to the online reviews. I hope someone gives it a technical critique like they did with FC5, GoW2, etc. Like you say, JWE may be a very good indication of what we could at least hope for in ED someday.
