Powerplay Farm merits faster.

I'm just started powerplay, but currently it seems i won't continue... just go back to trade for 800k CR profit per 15 min trips.

I've pledged to Zemina Torval, as i 60% trader, 20-20% bounty hunter and explorer, but this 10 power commodity/ half hour is ridicolously low. I have a Python with 228 tons of cargo space, and i want to use it. If i want to reach rank 5 i need to pay millions of CR ( to reset my power commodity countdown)? It seems power play is scaled to small ships... Or is there any other way to earn merits faster?

It starts off at 10 then goes up each rank to 50 per half hour, when you get to 50 you earn 50 mil a week which makes it kind of worth while in the end I think. And nothing is stopping you filling up with cargo and trading while you are doing it. I combine them both, sometimes I transport merits and on the return journey stop off for some cargo, or while waiting for the merits to respawn do some trading inbetween.

You can also earn merits from killing but not sure how.

Hello pakriksz! Welcome to Power Play and Making the selection of Senator Zemina Torval. If you haven't already, check out the sticky list. There is a link to the Torval sub-reddit, which includes at the top a great PowerPoint Introduction by JemyM from the strategy team. It will give you the basics for how to help Torval. It is also possible to join in the strategy discussion if still interested, through an invite from the Strategy Team.

Zemina Torval offers some great benefits for traders, but make no mistake: Power Play can be expensive and a large time investment. It is not generally for newer players, but every single little bit helps.

Check out that sub-reddit slide show. If you still are curious, PM me or continue to post here. I'll subscribe and keep checking. There is A LOT to learn. Check the Torval Weekly Cycle Update for instructions on what to do to best help.

Fortification is different than Undermining. Both are worth merits. Fortifying helps US the most can be extremely expensive. Undermining helps YOU the most because you can rack up 30 merits per kill and it's all profit outside a Wanted status you will incur.

I am also new to powerplay. My suggestion is to trade inbetween half hour powerplay commodity or leave ship in port and collect allocation and missions for an hour or so.

Once you start moving up the levels in powerplay it gets easier, but it does tie you down to keeping you in port for long points of time.
Powerplay is more time consuming, but some early effort to get yourself to level 3 or 4 will mean less work in the future.

Also be warned NPC now have different types that are harder to beat, i.e. agents and enforcers.

As for level 5 not worth the trouble unless you commit alot of time and combat. As trading on a good route better in time vs. money.

The only thing is stopping me filling up my cargo, that ALL of the targets have crappy trade possibilities. All of the fortification/preparation targets that i saw offer max 100k CR profits / loop... But i'm currently trading for 800k profit / loop.

Don't bother waiting for the power commodity as there is opportunity cost in waiting around. Think of it this way: At 10,000 per commodity, you are currently getting 100,000 every half hour or 200,000 credits every hour in power commodities. You say you can trade for 800,000 credits of profit per 15 minutes, meaning 3.2 million per hour. That is enough profit to fast track your entire your Python's cargo capacity and still have leftover profit. So it is a better and more profitable use of your time to trade, then fast track (and take the free 10 power commodities you will have after 1 hour of trading), rather than sit around in dock waiting. That will allow you to quickly level up your Powerplay rank.

Unless you are no playing and have a computer at work you can check every now and then :)

It seems if i use fast track, then i need to invest 17 million to get to rank 5 where i will earn 50 million per week. But this seems to be too easy, there must be some risk. Or isn't?

I looked at this to find the quickest way to earn merits when I started playing Power Play. For me it's definitely combat in Military Strike Zones or Violent Protest Zones.

The initial 10,000 merit grind in the first week was a bit monotonous but now for me to gain the 5,000 merits each week to maintain Rating 5 takes about 8 hours which isn't too bad. It's also been very good for my combat rank which has progressed rapidly.

I like bounty hunting and so pledged to Hudson because with Rating 5 it gives double bounty values and is very lucrative at compromised Nav beacons plus you get 50 million a week salary which is pretty good.

I'm worried that you're math is off. If you are starting at Rank 1, then it would cost you 100 million credits to Fast Track Fortify all the way to a Rank 5 rating. And each week, it'll cost 50 million to maintain. That same 50 million you get paid.
This is only if you just Fortify, no combat involved. It is much more cost effective to Undermine for merits. But...make sure you are helping your team. A lot of people just ignore the Weekly Strategy threads and just Undermine whatever is closest, whether that helps the whole group or not.
It's best to do both. Undermine a bit, make some profits and merits. Fortify what you can afford to. Don't Prep unless instructed to by your team. Beware the grind, keep it interesting.

Here's my current maths and method, being level 1 at the moment with 75 merit from first cycle.

I have earned 1500 merits at 15 merits an hour this cycle (Extra hours over weekend). Which will move me up to level 4 and and 5mil a week (Next cycle :( )
Now all I need to do is 200 merits a day and a few extra at weekend when I have time.
Computer on in the morning 25 merits over night (Assuming I am docked at merits station), leave computer on for 1 hour 50 merits (Breakfast). Computer off go to work.
Computer on at work 4.30pm, check computer every 30 mins and collect merits. By 7pm (Give or take a few mins) 200 merits dayly total done and I trade normally (IF I want) that evening.

And this is not taking into account merit decay. And skipping a week for holiday :)

I have my own reason for USING powerplay at the moment, but normally I do not play this way and do not like to be tied down like this. Meet a REAL mercenary :)

No, you need 10,000 for rank 5, which would cost you 1 billion, which is 20 times more than what you get back.
