Ship Builds & Load Outs FAS - For Ambivalence Sake

The Fed Assault Ship is a tweakers dream. But also poses a 1st-world problem; I can't decide what weapons to mount on this beauty.

Feel free to decide for me before the ground crew demands a raise for all switching back and forth.

I'm currently running 1 c3 beam, 1 c3 burst and 2 c2 rails. It's a little prone to overheating but the rails are great fun to use.

Yeah the rails are great fun! Hmm....the choices. For now I'm using 1 Fixed Pulse + 1 G Pulse on Large and 1 Fixed cannon + 1 G Cannon on Med. Think i'll replace the G pulse to Fixed Beam.

for now i use big pules and medium rails, it's very efficient allowing to put 4 pips in system if you want and still have a good dps

but really you can use every weapon you want on this beauty, even turrets

I've been trying out a turret: C3 Gimballed Beam, 2x C2 Rails, and a C3 Turret Burst on top, set to fire at my target. It's gives me a massive field of fire and constantly chips away at enemies. It seems to go rather well with my ram-happy style against small ships - rails, ram, burst finishes them off before I've even turned around.

Ive tried most combos but my fave for res or czs is all pulse theres no ammo worries so I don't leave until I get bored.
Ive got an all A python and prefer my FAS by far.

I've been enjoying a PA on the roof, gimballed burst on the belly, and a pair fixed burst on the mediums. I'd prefer to replace the fixed burst lasers with fixed multi cannons, but for whatever reason, multi cannons don't work right on those hardpoints. The right one sporadically cuts out, and the left one doesn't fire at all.

How aboot all-lazerr loadout (think 2 large pulse, 2 medium beam) would that work?
All lasers have 2 main problems.
First is they all drain power and overheat quickly. While this might be fine if you're just looking for high damage in a short period of time, the downtime can become a limiting factor against larger ships since even with constantly pointing at the enemy, you're only shooting 1/3 or 1/2 the time.
Second is that it's all thermal damage. Thermal is good against shields, but is less efficient at going through armor or damaging subsystems. Again, less of a problem against smaller ships, but can become a limiting factor against larger ones (especially if fitted with reflective armor).

Generally it's advised to have one thermal set of weapons, one kinetic set. Thermal to drop shields, kinetic to tear apart armor. Having both will also give you a way of dealing with reflective/reactive armored opponents more efficiently.

For the large mounts I would go with either pulse lasers or cannons, for the medium I would go with either multicannons or beam lasers; being 2 large pulse and 2 medium multicannons, or 2 large cannons and 2 medium lasers. This would give you both the flexibility as well as allow you to alternate between weapons while one is cooling down or reloading. This will allow you to maintain nearly constant damage as well as have the flexibility.
