Ships Fast + cool + energy efficient + high cargo capacity

Hello

I'm a bit at a loss because I think I need a ship with characteristics that usually exclude each other. I don't know where to start and I'm not well versed in engineering thus I turn to you.
So as the title says do I need the following in ONE ship:
  • a build with a high max speed in normal space WITHOUT boosting … btw. if I switch off FA will I keep my velocity indefinitely?
  • a build that runs as cool as possible … passively that is, it shall not use energy to keep cool or at least as little as possible energy
  • a build that runs as energy efficient as possible (in normal space) after almost everything is switched off (if possible just keeping life support on and if necessary the thrusters)
  • a build that has a high cargo capacity so that I can take as much fuel as possible.

Reasonable sacrifices on all of these conditions can be made if it is overcompensated in another category.
Money and ressources are not an issue.

The reason is that I want to reach a target in normal space that it 2 ls away.

My first thought was using a Type-9 because of the latter. But that clashed with the former. And I've never optimized for the other three categories.
I don't mind using a completely different ship (e.g. an eagle) if it turns out to be better to reach my goal.

So, please help me Obi-Wan … oopsie, wrong franchise ;)

Just two weeks! Hooray!!! That is almost four times faster than the Type-9.
And yes, your calculations are correct.

Can the iClipper carry enough fuel for that journey (assuming everything not necessary is switched off)?
Edit: it seems like it

Dolphin sounds good, too. I have one and I like it very much.

Now I just need to figure out how much fuel will be used per hour.

Darn! I can't find the fuel use per hour anywhere on Coriolis or edsy. Do I really need to build these to figure that out?
Guesstimate is roughly 2 tons per hours?
So 600 tons of fuel? Won't work then, but I'm not sure how low you get the consumption. No idea how to calc it honestly.

It doesn't take any more power to boost, so get a decent engine focused PD, bind the boost to the "-" key at top right of keyboard and put a weight on it for continuous boosting. That'll reduce your time by 20%.

Also no idea how to Calc it, but if the display of fuel usage is in t/h and if I remember correctly its some 0.5-ish on an paperbuild explorer, a 2t/h is a gank free one I guess ;)

(which is still too much for 102t max fuel on a dolphin)

Oh darn! If the 2 t/h is correct NONE of these can do it. I actually need to get down to 0.5 to even have a chance. But that wouldn't leave me with a lot of room to manoeuvre * sigh *.

What does FA off do? Can I boost once and simply switch the thrusters off. That should save a considerable amount of energy? Or am I misunderstanding one or two things?

Boosting dramatically increases fuel consumption (how realistic innit? :)

Had quick look at one of my Dolphin taxis https://edsy.org/s/v3WJeNP and it uses 0.82/hour all systems active deactivating everything except thrusters and life support drops this to 0.35/hour.
Unsurprising thruster use 0.3/hour on their own so I reckon you need a balance of speed and power consumption, you do maintain your velocity with the thrusters powered down but have control whatsoever.

Using my Frag Clipper "LRV Color out of Space" with everything turned off, I'll get this fuel consumption at top non-boost speed (484 w/4pips/eng):

build

So my guesstimate was quite off.

2ls = 300.000km *2

600.000 km = 600.000.000 m

Normal speed for say an iClipper is 484m/s *

600.000.000 m / 484 m/ s = 1.239.660 seconds

= 20661 minutes = 344,3 hours

--> 251 tons of fuel necessary

Should be "easily" doable  🤣

oioioioioi … super dankeschøn fuer die Hilfe :)
And if I drift with the same velocity with FA (and thrusters) off I can do that. It'll be like Apollo 13. They pointed at home, burned the thrusters for some seconds and afterwards drifted for days before they did the next course correction.

That means I'll need to get back to the bubble now.

Also: a fleet of tankers will not work. Because they can't get to me in supercruise where I intend to go. So they would have to accompany me during the journey.

Are you sure?
I think if you turn on your wing beacon, then the tankers will drop in on you, wherever you are. You see this all the time in CZs where you drop in next to your wing, but miles away (erm... Km away) from the actual POI.

Interesting conversation.

A quick question though. What is 2ls away that you need to do it in normal space that you can't just SC in/out to?

Not trolling just genuinely interested, is there some reason or you just want to do it for the challenge?
