Horizons fast looting?

Since looting now is the key.....don't we think having limpets just to pick up stuff from destroyed ships is necessary? otherwise you take 5-10 min picking up stuff piece by piece manually if no limpets.....that path was all about loot focusing but when it comes to maybe some kind of a "vacuum" to loot all that stuff fast - don't exist... so now you sacrifice modules for limpets as if you some miner. I don't want to have 5 different ships each serving different purpose ( wouldn't mind if you could switch ships at any station INSTEAD of flying to that one station where your particular ship sits lol).... if there is fast or some new way of looting stuff quick off destroyed ships be my guest....not to mention RNG is doing great also...you spend time not just by picking up but by finding also. that engineers module upgrades suppose to be some kind of 5 year milestone before you fully upgrade everything or what ?

Devs said it many times. no tractor beams.

If you want faster looting, buy a bigger controller. You can have five or six limpets following you around, and time will be no issue.

So which means were reserving modules for just limpets ? What about surface looting? Just drive manually onto loot?

Gotta say : I only ever used Collectors on my Ships (i.e. Bounty Hunting) to build an initial stock.

Fairly soon thereafter, I started (had to - Storage full otherwise) cherrypicking.
I can easily manually scoop a nice item in any Ship, never had issues with that.
A mere few days later, none of my Ships (except Miners of course) carried Collectors anymore.

Only in Conflict Zones, the process of Looting is a very two-edged sword. There, having something to speed up the process is still extremely useful. Unfortunately, the only place I really can't sacrifice a single Internal for non-combat related Equipment.
So it's "high risk scooping" in that location, unless I'm lucky enough to have some separation of the loot to the furball.

Disclaimer : oldschool Miner, learned manual scooping in the old days when Collector Limpets didn't exist yet.

In the beginning you will use a medium or large controller - to send out more limpets and pickup stuff faster. And generally send them out non targeted so they scoop up everything without 1 pickup then suicide.

but very very soon, you will find the 600 mat limit being your bottleneck, not how fast you can pickup.

then you will want just a small limpet controller, A grade 1 limpet or 2 limpet max controller, and send out cherry picking only what you want

e.g. Target chemical distillery -> launch limpet -> it picks up faster than non targeted limpets -> no lost time dumping mats you can't store or don't want to

i do agree it sucks using up one internal slot, even a small one, for what now seems to be a base function needed in ships. Probably a good candidate for an engineer mod to allow non-slot upgrades

e.g. Faster scanning for explorers that speed up normal basic scanning if no BDS, ADS, or DSS installed, or speeds up scanning with those modules of installed
Or
improved cargo scoop - built in 2 limpet controller
etc etc

Eventually you will get to a point where 99% of the junk you find is junk you don't want and will go back to manual scooping.

Yeah and at that point you start to really recognize by name the rare mats from the more common ones, so you can quickly scan your contacts list after a kill or whatever and know immediately if it's all junk or if there is that one nugget worth going after.

I really wish certain modules were made integrated into the hull rather than a module option. Maybe making limpet drone controller part of Core Internals instead of Optional Internals. Players still can choose to 'upgrade' those limpets to better quality(A,B,C,D) or opt for specialized limpets that only scoop certain cargo types but at a much more efficient rate.

As ED receives new content & mechanics i'm sure the module count available will sky rocket too however we'll still be stuck with the same module slot count from ED 1.0. Some Optional Internals just make sense to be inherent to the hull.
