Fastest way to get hostile superpower rep?

What’s the fastest way to get hostile rep with the Empire? Smuggling and murder seem to have very little negative rep progress.

Accept and abandon missions aligned to the relevant superpower.

Out of interest, why are you trying to do this? It has no actual effect ingame. (I hoped I would get blocked at all Federal stations, because why not, but that's not the case)

PS: Make sure to accept as many as possible before abandoning them, as there's never many missions available once you hit Unfriendly.

depends on what you are after. if its just getting your super power rep to hostile then Jmanis' suggestion is the ticket. (be careful not to reach hostile while you are on pad however because the local faction will shoot you as soon as you undock) but this won't cause any real noticeable difference in your gaming experience. you will still be able to dock at any empire station (minus the particular faction you tanked your rep with if you just stick with a single faction). won't be KOS with any of the system authority and only attacked by power play npc's which will cause them to be wanted and no bounty hunters will be sent after you. when i did i rarely ran into power play npc's and seemed pointless. NOTE: i was not pledged to an super power.

if you are looking for a han solo type, everyone is out to get you, can't dock anywhere in the empire kind of thing then you will need to kill clean ships in empire controlled systems. a lot. after a certain threshold of bounties from killing you will become wanted with a super power. and this kind of hostile will prevent you from docking at that superpowers stations and be KOS by any empire affiliated system authority with constant bounty hunters after you. its quite fun actually.

i built a murder bounty of around 1.5 million before i noticed. system authority and civilian ships. i don't know what the actual threshold is but its a lot of work since you can't die or you will lose your bounty and have to start over.

another half way path is just get wanted status with the biggest factions who control the most stations. no killing needed and any simple bounty will do - surface scan, tickle the shields of a clean ship, and so forth. with the added advantage of leaving you smaller imperial stations to dock at in a crunch.

to recap there are 4 kinds of wanted i'm aware of. hostile to a super power, wanted by a faction, hostile to a faction and the last one i explained above that makes you wanted by single super power.

It's a shame there's no depth to the mechanics around Hostile, including better incentives combined with deeper consequences.

since i don't do power play i can't comment if there are more consequences for being hostile. but yeah, it a was a real big disappointment when i first tried it. i'm still hostile with the empire and i couldn't honestly tell you any amount of difference in my gameplay. pointless.

what i don't like is it forces you to cause a lot of disruption to the bgs, which i'm more hesitant to do now that i know more about the mechanics.

I got one BRB.

[later]

I brought a hundred tons of BioWaste from Harma and dumped it in the airlock at Dawes Hub in Achenar.
Still 14% negative rep years later.

Hahaha, I wanted to donate 760t worth to someone on a pad once and it's nice to know what would have happened.

The consequences are there. Its fun being hostile with a faction. Its not so fun trying to repair that reputation though (rightly so as well). Its taken me many hours of gameplay to restore a destroyed relationship with a couple of factions and their superpower.

to a faction perhaps, but hostile to a superpower does nothing i can see worth any consequence.

Oh really? So I don’t get nothing?? That’s a shame there is no noticeable effect. It’s an even bigger shame that one can have simultaneous high rank in two rival navies.

Is it still possible to be allied with an Imp minor faction but hostile to the empire? Do the station controllers even greet you differently?

Perfectly possible and that's my exact situation. Since i don't do missions for the empire my rep with them stays low - I've since paid off my big bounty since it was on my krait which i wanted to try as an explorer without buying a new one so empire rep is still trash - but none of their affiliate factions seem to give two f's about it.
