Fathers and son's (and of course daughters) Wings?

I kind of like to think that I'm pretty cool as a dad! Ex-games programmer & all round computer enthusiast, radio amateur (yeah I can do Morse), Jazz trumpet player, I've been around a bit.

My greatest achievement so far!...
I fly wingman with my 16 year old son!
His CMDR name is CMDR John Neary.

So if you see him in game call him up and tell him his Dad said he's the best son a Dad could have!

But...
How many other people fly Elite with family members, or am I the only one?

sort of.....my son is combing the galaxy trying to find me so he can "teach me a proper lesson in flying and gaming" fat chance. My Grandson sometimes takes the controls with me behind him (cant do too much damage exploring).

I sometimes throw my 7-year old son behind the controls of a throw-away eagle at an anarchy nav-point, which he loves to death (his ship's, mostly). As long as I handle the target acquisition for him, he handles the rest.

My 11-year old has played a few times, not much interest, he prefers his Minecraft empire.

As for my 15-year old, not letting him near my ships, throw-away or not. He can get his own account if he ever manages to save up his pennies.

Unfortunately, my daughter lost interest in Elite quite quickly and we usually play Lego Batman 3 or other games when we (or, rather, I) have time to play. She did love flying in asteroid fields early on, though. But Joker's and Robin's antics are so much more fun to watch...

I play darts with my 12 year old son - now that really is DANGEROUS

Other than that i can't get him off his FIFA butt................

I fly with my father often.Im 13 years old and he is 45 i think...Our in game names are CMDR Cola_BH and Fanta_BH i think your names tell alot XD.

Yes it does.

It tells you I didn't read the Kickstarter page properly and simply responded to "Enter you name" as I do every day.

But Hey why be anonymous when you can publicly make a fool of yourself. :)

My 19yr old son plays and we used to share kills at nav points. I've been exploring since 26th Feb so have not tried winging up with him. I'm on my way home and I can't wait to go kick ass with him. We do a lot together....he's my bezzy m8 :D

I'm now spending more time in a private group with my nine year old than in open play by myself. I've just asked him, and he says about E:D : "It's amazing. The best game I play." Which is impressive considering his love of Minecraft.

My daughter (19) is redoing the training missions over and over again. I'm sure she'd like a proper go, but there's no way she's using my CMDR until she can park her ship without me holding my breath watching.

Not that impressive when hes used to playing a game that looks like it was made when the first elite came out!

I have three kids (Aged 5, 3 and 1) who all tend to help copilot my ships in one degree or other.

The 5-yo is great when she plays and is exceptionally proud of being "Captain in charge of Landing Gear and FSD". Lol

The youngest one is almost definitely a pirate spy out to scupper my bounty hunting as he seems to love hitting boost whenever he sees a station anywhere... >.>

Having winged up with both of you before i'm glad to see this kind of family outing, and listening to the two of you on TS, the two of you are always a blast :)

as to family wings....

Not quite there yet, but she's trying.... now once i can teach her that this is not bubble pop and the goal isn't to hit as many bubble (rocks) as possible, we may get somewhere :p

she does seem to enjoy the resulting explosion tho...

I would love to fly with my son. But he's just 4 years old now so we will have to wait some time.
Edit: sometimes I let him scan objects, use ads and fsd and he always looks out for red dots on the scanner :).
