Favorite Game of All Time by David Braben

Thought I'd use this as an opportunity to dust off this old thing!
My variation on the original Frontier: Elite II theme that I wrote a couple of years ago.

I still have that picture from your other claim to fame at the start of Wing Commander the movie

Frontier: Elite II on the Amiga 500 is still the most influential game in my life, despite it's 7 frames per second and near minimum detail. There was something magical about the way FE2 portrayed people and place...I could imagine the faces were 'real' characters and not just a pasted quote from the Mad Libs-style, random-quote generator. Planets felt solid and massive, stations felt desolate and remote, and ships felt like they were mine. It was a really special world they created that went beyond "game".

Frontier: Elite II was a universe in my pocket, and I will be hard pressed to find something so transcending again.

(I had a bunch of stuff about how Elite: Dangerous is getting closer and closer to making me feel the same way, but I strayed too much from the thread topic so I deleted it.)

1: Elite
2: Frontier
3: Darxide EMP
4: Elite Dangerous
5: Frontier First Encounters

Early days but I am expecting Elite Dangerous to work it's way up that list - maybe even to the top one day.
