Favorite Landing Craft?

Just what the title says, what is your favorite craft to land in? I've been flying my Purple Clipper for ages now, and the broad triangle shape has sometimes led to difficulty finding a location to land, but sometimes it's worth it, seeing her perched on the top of a bluff just right. That said, what is your favorite ship to land in? Alternatively, what is the easiest landing ship you've found? Tried with an eagle a few times, and learned I have terrible depth perception as I made craters all over Imperial Space. :)

Its got to be the cobra - not because of the handling but I cant help but smile as I drive up to in the SRV and see my Wireframe Paintjob

I've actually finally found a use for my vulture.

Its absolutely perfect for in the bubble, can defend itself if needed (although I've lightened it from a full combat fit), its small for those tight landing zones and has excellent thrusters for high g worlds.

Plus it's been sat in a space station for 6 months, so it was that or sell it!

Adder. I just love how the wing tips fold up when you deploy landing gear :)

I'm working on getting a Diamondback Scout next. That might look pretty cool too with it's engine nozzles facing down like somehting out of a F35 VTOL aircraft.

I'm seriously considering refitting my T6 as a local planetary runabout. Good jump range, plenty of room for kit, and with a decent boost speed for running away from trouble. http://coriolis.io/outfit/type_6_tr...w1-kA==.IwBhrSrYCYyA?bn=T6 planetary runabout

The idea is to use it for in-bubble and near-bubble materials prospecting/collecting - its not really an 'explorer' build as such. I originally intended to use a Cobra for the job, but I really don't like the restricted view. Long-range planetary missions are likely to use my Asp Ex, at least until I can afford an Anaconda.

Key requirements -1) size small (lands anywhere) 2) high max speed (gets to POIs better and handles g's) 3) has min 5 internals (shield, srv, scoop, 2x scanner) 4) has OK+ jump range

So that leaves Courier or Viper IV for me.

Courier better at zipping through canyons, Viper better jump range.

My Fer-de-Lance.

For generic use i usually use either the Viper MKIV, the ICourier or my Keelback.. BUT....

For the next few months i will be using my Anaconda as part of the Distant Worlds project...

Smoke me a kipper... and keep it in deep freeze, i`ll be back.... some time...later... much later..

My favorite one is Anaconda, then Diamondback Explorer with its sexy downwards-pivoting thrusters.

But 'Conda is the beauty to look at - 27.000Ly from home you really appreciate having a big ship like this hauling you around. It makes you feel a little more secure being that far from civilization.
And just as you release the SRV, you see that huge cargo bay door with "STAY CLEAR" sign on it - which either will be a hangar for the launchable fighter, or might be a decent RP cargo bay when we can walk onboard the ship.

I could only dream of landing my 'Conda on planet's surface, getting out of pilot's chair, then walking all the way inside the ship and down to the bay, only to stand next to cargo bay door and press that "OPEN" button, witnessing how it opens and lets me get out of the ship, to the grassy, forresty terrain and explore on foot.

Maybe one day :)

So far i've used Dropship, FdL, and now Python for PL.

My fav was the dropship simply because it is perfect in terms of just enough loadout space of the right size and plenty of hardpoints for lots of missiles, and of course, it looks like it should be landing on planets.

The Python i only took because it can take the size 6 hangar, i thought i'd be losing SRVs fairly quickly with my plans, but turns out, once you get a bit experienced, its quite a challenge to destroy the SRV. Lost one due to the random exploding SRV bug, and almost lost one due to a Goliath. However, i did a brave Sir Robin, got into the Python, and taught the Goliath a lesson.

FdL was quite sweet at flying above planets though.

Next up, probably the iCourier as i want to do some fancy flying.

I'll go with the Asp Explorer.

It's just the right size to fit everything I need for PVE combat, cargo running, exploration and landing on planets. Not to mention good range.

It's not in a good position for pure PVP combat but for single player or Co-Op play it fit's the bill.

Going by name only - Theoretically a Federal Dropship should be ideal. :)

Personally. I love dismissing and recalling the ship and seeing her fly away and come back on command. I'd not thought about the Adder's folding wings, that should look impressive. Got an Asp Explorer right now, and it's definitely harder to set down than it's predecessors, The Asp Scout and Diamondback Explorer. God only knows how you manage with a Federal Corvette!

Really like to land large ships (conda/corvette), how they handle and look from outside.
But on practice was using mostly Cobra mkIII, as it seems to be by far the most practical ship for short range planetary exploration(within ~1000Ly from sol).

Any really, landed in the:-

Cutter, because she looks so fine.
Clipper, same reason.
ASP, she is a the top explorer.
Cobra IV, loving those extra compartments.
Python, the best medium ship in game.

But I imagine the Eagle is a lot of fun to go canyon buzzing.
