When E4 comes out I hope that there will be old classic ships along with the new ones, throughout the series of games it (to me) has always had a feel of evolution throughout the games.

A continuing story.

LOL I would be really surprised if the main character ships didn't make it back in to E4. I can see ships like the Krait, Mamba and Moray Starboat taking a walk (scrapped if you will) and a few other ones but the classics have to stay. The Panther Clipper was a really cool ship especially with the rotating nacelles, it would be sad to see that go.

I've been struggling with the old sketch pad (and my crap drawing skills) with some re-imaging of the MKIII so I am well keen to have some idea what the Frontier concept artists are coming up with.

Interesting....I wonder if that could be a idea for the competion to have something named after you, you could design your own ship or update a existing one.. it could even be the prize, having your ship included in the game!!! could be fun to have a try at that one.

Excellent idea, in terms of the basic design & appearance. I think we'd have to leave the stats to David & Co though, otherwise we'd have a ship with 100g acceleration and LPAs on all the gun mounts

That seems to have happened at least once over the drawing board where Imperial Explorer was designed as well.

Dunno I think that it was quite a purposeful ship but unfortunately the game did not reap rewards for exploration, something that I hope will have a place within E4. It would be nice if exploratory missions or even a lifestyle of exploration was a possibility. I don't envy the design team coming up with enough scenarios to make exploration a component of the game but it would be cool if it were.

The Imperial Explorer was one of my favorite looking ships from the game after the Courier. It was quite a cool crossover of an SR71 Blackbird and the Blakes 7 ship

Yeah I see what you mean. Chucking a turret on there would've made a bit more sense but it would ruin the lines a bit LOL

Wyvern, Viper Defence MK2 being a couple of the smaller vessels i like.

anything i can get flying in one jump between vans maneens and sol with room for plenty luxury goods makes me happy.

I'm not a fan of many FFE designs.

FE2 ships were often simple polyhedra, but they had all the charm and none the pretentiousness.
In FFE, while there were some cool designs - IE, Harris, Harrier, Lanner etc. - some were just fugly and pointless - see Skeet and Griffin - what's the point of making such a massive hole occupying most of the structure? At least IE was consistent with Imperial style, but Griffin?

if its looks alone, most gorgeous has to be the wyvern. the merlin, the viper defence mk2 and the imperial ships also turning heads.

the lion and gyr were a nice visual change too.


if we could pit ourselves against each other, i'm sure the boa would win out over the puma or griffin. its the speed guys! u just dont see any other ships that big at that speed (i think the imperial is next big ship with a little extra speed).

you can kit out the boa with an accelerator and piles of shielding, kitted out for the big jobs.

...... oh wait... i just remembered a handful of ships you dont get in the shops....

My first upgrade is always to an Adder. I'm very partial to their shape for some reason. I'm flying a Constricter right now. When I'm done with this ship, I will probably move on to a Lion and stay there.
