This was there Orca Winnie she was small but she seemed quite happy she went over to America in the end she was totally amazing the Safar was brilliant if you went on a bus you even go to feed the Giraffes they used to stick their heads right in to the bus and I can tell you they have HUGE heads they also had a bit of woodland full of dear even gazelles all the Animals had Big habitats apart from Winni and the dolphins I loved that place they turned it in to Lego land in the end but it was better as the safari park interesting side note as you drive up to the entrance you go pas the old deer wood and some of the safari drive through area.

what was your favorite zoo?

San Diego Zoo in San Diego California and the associated Safari Park that is about an hour drive away, definitely my all time favorite zoo. I have traveled alot and those two spoiled me for life....most zoos I have visited since have disappointed me. I was fortunate to have lived near San Diego for a decade and visited the zoo at least once a year, more if friends or family visited from out of state throughout the year.

I think it's my favorite by far in large part because of just how big it is, it's massive compared to many other zoos, as a result it has a wider variety of animals and attractions as well as (in many cases) larger enclosures. It is also located in a very beautiful park so the environ itself is part of the attraction.

My 2nd favorite is probably the Milwaukee public zoo in Milwaukee, WI. I grew up near there, went to that zoo a lot. It isn't as great as the one in San Diego, but it is still decent sized with a good variety compared to many other zoos I've visited. And of course, all the childhood memories make it remain always special.

I'm also very excited for Planet Zoo. Been a while since a good Zoo simulation game was made. About time we get a Zoo Tycoon for the modern gaming hardware.

I think we have some great zoo's here in the Netherlands.

Diergaarde Blijdorp in Rotterdam is probably our favorite, just because it is 10 minutes away from my hometown. It's a mixture between a modern zoo and old monumental buildings with lots of nice exhibits for the animals. Also the fact this zoo is constantly evolving and transforming and upgrading it's exhibits it's always fun to return every year.

Other zoo's in the Netherlands are worth the trip as well, especially Ouwehands Dierenpark Rhenen, Burger's Zoo Arnhem and Artis Amsterdam.

We also have a safari park Beekse Bergen, which is worth the trip as well.

But Blijdorp is my favorite.

Edit: Just found a very old picture, probably late 40s. As of today the zoo has been expanded to the left beyond the train tracks.

Going to say Toronto, but I haven't been fortunate enough to see very many Zoos to compare.

I go every year though. I enjoy it.

St Louis Zoo is very nice, and the fact that it is free admission makes it even better. Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago is another one of my faviourites, especially for a relatively small zoo,

Brookfield Zoo in the Chicago area. And actually Lincoln Park Zoo in the city is great - its free!!! ...but my favorite zoo of all time is Cheyenne Mt Zoo in Colorado Springs area. Not sure if its location on the side of a mountain that makes is so special, but every time I go there the animals seem way more active and interesting than other zoos I have been to.

On one of my Holdays we went to Singapor zoo that was pritty good thay had a full prid of Lions and I got a photo with a Chimp lovly anamal that one and the relationship with the trainer was so sweet.

Brookfield is the obvious one in the Chicagoland area, but honestly, it feels as if the quality has gone down over the past decade or so. I can't point to anything specific, more just an overall feeling. Lincoln Park is my preference in Chicago now.

Ohhhhh i REALLY want to go to some of these american zoo's they sound great.....

For me i don't think i've gone to any GREAT zoo's.... i have always found the ones i've gone to the exhibits have been lacking in size and dated.
however,

i HAVE enjoyed

West Midlands Safari Park (UK)
and The Cornish Seal Sanctuary.

If anybody here knows of any great UK zoo, please reply to me? would love to go to some.

I quite like Paignton Zoo.

I have to say that by FAR, my favorite zoo is San Diego Zoo. I say this because the zoo takes more than a day to see everything! There is lots of endangered/semi-extinct animals at the zoo. Furthermore, not known to many people, there are breeding programs behind the scenes!

I actually have a bird that was hatched at the zoo or some eggs were bought, and a buyer got a hold of it and contacted us. I love what San Diego Zoo is doing!

Australia Zoo is just a short 15 minute drive down the mountain from where I live now and is pretty great. They need rides though - an aerial gondola, monorail/train - it is quite big and spread out now and since Steve's passing - all the future plans of rail connection, hotels and lands has stopped..
But Melbourne Zoo (opened in 1862) is where I grew up at and it was one of the top 5 Zoo's in the world - that was years ago though - not sure of its rating ATM - it has those really old Victorian red brick buildings and beautiful exhibits. The whole central walk is like old zoos of yesterday - but now all of the exhibits are state of the art and are contained in huge landscaped environments.
The butterfly house was one of the first in the world. The pigmy Hypo's enclosure is amazing - guests walk right in the middle of the river - with the river split on either side of you and they paddle all around you. The Gorilla enclosure is set in a huge rainforest and you walk into a replica of Jane Goodalls jungle research house to see her view of the habitat. That Zoo is epic and old - hopefully we will get to build amazing enclosures in Planet Zoo - cannot wait.

I've been on holiday with my wife in the UK a few years ago, and we stayed in the North London area (Loughton).

Along the motorway we kept seeing this sign for a small zoo in the area called Paradise Wildlife Park.

We went there on a day when we had no plans, and it was great!
A small zoo, with mostly cats. I can definitely advise you to go there.

Here's the website. https://www.pwpark.com/

Colchester isn't too bad in size. And I have a friend that is a keeper. London is s bit small 😣. I went to an amazing otter sanctuary in Devon a couple of years ago.
