Favourite games of 1984 or earlier...

I played the original ELITE back in '84 and loved it to bits. Another game that got me in those adolescent years was 'Lords of Midnight' and the follow up 'Doomdarks Revenge'.
What games back then did you spend endless hours playing?

Avalon - still one of the best games of all time. King Arthur's Quest was also great fun, trying to map out every level and work out what all those weird sounds were :) Both 1984 Speccy releases.

Both LoM and Doomdarks were amazing games. I preferred Doomdarks more. I think they were after 84 though.

List of many of them here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ZX_Spectrum_games

Oh man, some real blasts from the past there. Looks like LoM was 84 actually with Revenge being 85.

Atic Atac, Jetpack, Beach-Head, Ghostbusters, Sabre Wulf, Wild Bunch were pretty good pre-85. I think most of the better games came a bit later though, stuff like Head over Heels, Match Day I and II.

In 1984 I was two years old, fumbling with an Intellivision and Atari 2600. I didn't see a computer until I was in pre-school, and not again until middle school. So I don't have much of a clue about what computer games came out around that time. The first games I remember playing was Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (this was the first game that gave me the creeps), Pac-Man, B17 Bomber (and yes, my dad bought the Intellivoice lol), and Donkey Kong. I'm sure those games came out a couple years before 1984, but that's what I was playing in '84 :D Who would have thought back then that we'd eventually be playing a game like ED? The graphics and sound alone would have blew our minds, and the idea of 400 billion stars would have been laughable.

B-Seven-Teen-Bomb-Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! :D Oh, the memories.
