Just curious about what kind of stuff people here listen to.
I'm a die-hard metal fan, more specifically Melodic Death/Doom/Black Metal.
I think it must confuse people who walk past the house. Most people in my area are into generic music like you get on the X-Factor.
So when they hear the heavy guitar riffs, the smash of the drums, and the oh-so glorious death growls of the real music I listen to, well, I've had a few funny looks to say the least.
I don't think one genre defines me. I listen to everything. When i was younger I was into Weird Al and Run DMC. When I grew up, it was 90's grunge - AIC, Sponge, STP. Then with the millennium came Type O Negative. Dunno what, something in their music I just connected with. Nowadays, I just follow whatever interests me - classic, country, classic country, classic rock, Irish folk tunes, GangstaGrass, whatever.
Throughout the years though no matter what I listen to, I always keep coming back to Floyd. Their music is just timeless. So, I guess Floyd is my favorite genre.
This is quite a loaded question to me since I don't really pay attention to genres or subgenres anymore and enjoy a lot of different bands or solo-artists, albeit in general I tend to prefer Metal & Rock. The world would be far uglier if people did not have obscure tastes. Obscurity is one of the most beautiful things in the universe, so one ought never keep their obscure tastes to themselves. ;^)
Have a thing fer the more underground side of house music although I like a great many different styles of music...but house has always been my first love and has been since the days when house music first started in the UK ^^
I have wide tastes. 80-ies metal is a classic of course, with bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. More modern melodic power metal like Hammerfall is also great. Queen, Rush, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blondie, The Clash, Alice in Chains, Dire Straits, Jethro Tull, Neil Young...
If it's skillful and clean I will most likely enjoy it. Some stuff took a lot of getting used to, like Nine Inch Nails. I can't name a favorite genre, just favorites within genres.
Throughout the years though no matter what I listen to, I always keep coming back to Floyd. Their music is just timeless. So, I guess Floyd is my favorite genre.
