Favourite Sci-Fi Games, Besides ED?

For me, it is hands down.. Mass Effect.

I adore the series, but if I had to choose from the first trilogy, I'd have to go with ME1. Nothing prepared me for how amazing that game was going to be. I won't go into too many fawning details, but if the ME universe could be replicated in a game such as ED, and I got to fly around in any version of the Normandy, I would be a happy young (I'm only 35, c'mon!) man indeed.

I realise that ME was set in the same universe - technically - but you know what I mean.

So, what are you favourite sci-fi games/series besides ED?

(Apologies if there are similar threads; couldn't find any here)

Star Flight 2, Star Control 2, Tie Fighter.

The first two were space adventure games with where you could go completely off rails and do whatever you wanted, like ED.

So many many many hours spent with both of these masterpieces

And Star Control 2 / Ur-Quan Masters needs a mention - That is one hell of a story. They dont make game like that anymore :(

X-COM
Fallout series (from 3 on)
Stalker series (a little rough around the edges, but they're the most atmospheric games I ever played).

and I almost forgot about Starpoint Gemini 2. Fantastic game if you want to fly a huge ship, but the flight model is not very well developed IMO.

and if you just want to blow stuff up then there is Space Pirates and Zombies

Some good calls in here, totally forgot about some of these: X-Com, EVE, Master of Orion, Galactic Civilizations..

That aside ...

Alien vs Predator ... Playing as the marines always freaks me out when you whip out the scanner ( "That's ... inside the room !" )
Battlefield 2142. Bit old now and I don't play but during it's time - mmm .. something about being in Armoured Walkers :)

.. and now of course NMS. I haven't had the issues that people have so managed to put in 9 hours so far.

ADR1FT... nice mini game, I like that environment.

Fractures Space...nice game too, and its free.

I'd have to go with Emperor: Battle for Dune. Not quite as cool in some ways as Dune 2/2000, but the ability to add sub-houses to your main house was awesome.

Also a big fan of Star Trek: Armada 2, especially with the Fleet Ops total conversion/mod.

A bit of a RTS theme going there....

Ummm.... Frontier: First Encounters anyone?
