FD are there plans to complete the develpment for VR?

As the subject states,
it's like VR is half implemented right now. I know you are busy, but can you provide anything on the plans on getting the issues resolved?

Well the Galaxy map, the in game Menus, Vive resolution and focus, anti-aliasing techniques to name a few.

Well the Galaxy map - Works fine if setup correctly
The in game Menus - Work without any issues at all
Vive resolution and focus - Talk to HTC / Valve
anti-aliasing techniques - Would be nice to see some better AA to save people using super sampling.

Now where is that gif... oh here:

And to answer:
1. The galaxy map is FINE with a controller, stop trying to use the mouse.
2. IDK what's with the in game menus?
3. Vive resolution and focus problem ended with one setting: HMD quality - a long ago. Set to 1.25 (or higher if you can) and forget it. There are threads on the subject, too.
4. Anti-aliasing tech used by FDev is -poor and it is not only VR problem, but 2d too. You're better off using either DSR for 2d or SteamVR application multiplier for VR.

Anything else?

For the Map,
No it's not fine and i do use the controllers,
For the menus,
Not all of them have been set up to run in VR, just look at the commodities as and example.
Yes I have been using the HMD @ 1.25 up to 2.0 and it's still that something I feel can be better (See some of the other games that support VR,)
For the Anti-aliasing
FD them selfs have said they want to work on this.

So take your beating the dead-horse gif and play with it! :)

OK, I agree with this one - some of the interface screens are flat rather than curved (I may be wrong but I think it's not just the commodities screen).

DISCLAIMER: I'm faaaaaar from being a fdev whiteknight, but srsly.

For the Map,

care to elaborate? I can do everything just fine from my tflight hotas x. Zoom in out, move quickly from one side of galaxy to the other, plot courses, filter map etc.

That's really vague. As in not curved or what? And which commodities, the market (which has its own share of UX problems not only in VR) or the materials (which has no problems for me)

I can't really address that, because its seriously subjective. I can say it can get much worse (Arizona Sunshine), and I also compared side by side with an oculus rift (which does (did before?) supersampling behind the scenes dynamically), and the image quality I was able to achieve with vive was on par with the oculus, and that was before HMD quality slider started working, by upping rendering in steamvr.

For the Anti-aliasing
FD them selfs have said they want to work on this.

They lied because that was looong ago ;-)

For the map.
It's needs to be cleaned up, as it just looks and butt ugly in VR, yes it works, but only with tweaking etc... it should be the show case for the Game (just my opinion). and you know what they say about opinion's :D
there is no common feel to the menus, i.e. all flat or curved and yes they have other problems not just in VR.
and yes the other's are very subjective, but when comparing to something like DCS or Detached.... it could be a lot better.
For the AA yes we are all still waiting :(

really? i think ED is one of the best titles for VR out there. i play 100% in VR.

all text is legible
the galaxy map works fine
infact other than the option to change hud colours perhaps to a green hue without borking anything else i would say ED is a shining example of a great VR implementation. (and even the colours is more a limitation of the current HMDs)

i worry about the future however and how EVA / 1st person on foot will work

now that said.........

I dont especially like all the menus in elite full stop. they work for me just fine in VR, but a lot of them have little "soul" to them, its all a bit clinical and spread sheety.
which may well be how it would be, with no wasted space on pretty fluff.... but the concept images were a lot more exciting imo.... just like the concept for thesystem map (orrery)

No need to go through the points in the OP as covered by others. I've not experienced any of the problems mentioned (and agree with the suggestion to use a gamepad for the Galaxy map). The aliasing is a problem in ED, but that's not VR specific.

Not saying this should have been in, but having just tried Oculus Touch, I would love to navigate the Galaxy map with the touch controllers.

Grap and pull your way around the map, then point to your destination.

On topic, it would be nice if the commodities market was curved

Oh yeah! That'd be ace ... like Google Earth VR! I wanna be able to navigate station menus and maps and stuff like Tom Cruise in Minority Report! :D

I'd like to see the side panels moved slightly more forward so I don't have to turn my head 90 degrees to fiddle with lights and stuff. Same for the left panel too.

I want the commodities and Galaxy map panels to be curved because they would be easier to read in VR.

But I also want the PowerPlay and GalNet panels to open in-ship like the starport services panel because immersion. Additionally - and this isn't really VR specific - I want the GalNet background noises/music/chatter removed because those sounds distract my reading and make me close GalNet much sooner than I otherwise would.

Well, I don't know but it sure would be nice to pick up the Touch controllers when in the map and manipulate it by grabbing it and moving your arms around.

Some form of VR text entry for the map is definitely required too.
