This forum is getting more and more bizarre. First an Elite Commander who pummels a bloody noob in his poor Sidey, then someone posting who obviously didn't consider to re-read what he's going to post. I never used hatchbreakers that obviously didn't work in this video. But in light of the situation as a whole this seems the minor issue here.

But just a thought (bear with me, I have no clue about piracy and this module): Can it be that mission cargo is 'magically' protected by the game?

No, it happens regardless of the cargo type.

I have bug reported it at least once, if not multiple times.

Would be a pretty dull game if mission cargo were magically protected from piracy.

Don't hold your breath. There are two outcomes basically.

1) Frontier QA employee: "I've passed this on for investigation". Never to be heard from again
2) It is in fact passed on, investigated and fixed many months if not a year/years later by a new bug ridden update due to bad QA.

And you can go and repeat that cycle ad nauseam.

I was out proselytizing about our Galactic Overlord, Zarek Null (and the starter systems were on the way from one void opal spot to another).

He just happened to have valuable cargo that would have been useful to the Overlord.

And Xious, technically I was defending myself

Salt is far more valuable. It turns out Sol's Earth is the only ELW to have saltwater, anywhere in the galaxy.

Freshwater everywhere else.

I encountered these bugs too, and am pretty sure that mined minerals, in my cases, are not Mission related cargo and should be ejected.
I didn't find a method to replicate this bug, it seems sporadic.

Bugs kill people, when those people seem to be refusing to pay insurance money.

Yeah, it's definitely sporadic, and it really sucks when it happens on a slow day.

My hope is all of the pirates can make enough noise to get it fixed.

And to be fair, his laser pointers probably have less dps than your shield-regen :/ What happened to pirates leaving you at > 10% hull, for the first offense? <sigh> Fdev plz.


EDIT: ok i'll admit I FFwd first time, the filthy pirate actually shot first: packhounds at 2:15 so yeah, CMDR Millen1on is defending themselves.

EDIT2: at least the ganky-seal-clubber used comms to text them (like a proper pirate ), but I totally LoL'ed when CMDR Millen1on boosted into the pirate, and started firing. Like a total "screw you, you're not taking my life's savings!".
Very entertaining. I now feel bad, for laughing, which is causing me grief! So conflicted, repped OP.
