Its DAY 2 or WRC Rally Poland, er, I mean, its the second time I will bump this thread this weekend. Tomorrow will be the final day.
The leading option so far, with over 70% votes, is "A Word or Two From David". I do miss David and its great to see his encouragement. I agree it would be good to have a few lines from The Boss on each news letter, to make it feel personable and individualistic. Right now it feels like the Newsletter is Procedurally Generated! - like they feed in some community goal information from a punch tape reader, and the computer spits out a leaflet.
If the Newsletter was half of this size but had twice as much 'news', with a section for Micheal, David and Sandro, with some community images and goals at the bottom, this would be amazing and worth reading and framing behind glass. There have been lots a good newsletters, several quite recently, so they can do it. I think its certainly important when 2.2 is due soon.
Very surprised there isnt more love for "Fun Stats on Everything". I think it would be good to read Total % of Galaxy Explored, total systems discovered, total trade, total enemies destroyed, total light years travelled. FD could have a ball with community stats. And YES I do want to know "Total unique players this month", even if the numer of players has fallen from 10,000 to 1,000, I still would like to know. I think they could run community goals like "We have discovered 1 Billion 998, 999,999 systems, who will be the first to discover our 2 Billionth system?" or "Communitry has traded 200 Trillion Cr so far, lets reach 300 Tillion with the following community goal..." etc. I think it would be fun to have monthly and weekly targets like "Ayling Duvall Ships Destroyed this month = 45,000, goal is 90,000" etc, which is not "Community Goals" formally, but unofficially.
I didnt mention Jaques Station as this is getting lots of press on the newsletter already, and rightly so. I would have made two Jaques stations, one Fed, other Imp, and have them try to "out do" each other directly. Yes this means two sets of story lines but it also means two stations with two sets of player bases, at it could mean a bridge or stepping stones closer to the Core.
The Q & A option was inspired by the Reddit Q & A sessions - so why not have these every month rather than just on Reddit twice a year?
Anyway, there you go.
