Every few months i get brave enough to try one of these and usually the target spawn rate is so slow that i cant complete the mission before the timer runs down.
The one im currently trying to do has taken a new twist. In the transactions tab the counter shows 6/16 targets killed and i am getting messages in the coms panel and the info panel that "despite your current failure" and "spec ops contract failed".
The timer in the transaction tab shows 1 day and 5 hours left, so there is no reason i should be getting these messages.
The mission promised to keep my notoriety at 0 during the mission and i took the mission because it was a 5+ inf bump for a faction i support. I am afraid to continue it because if i do and my notoriety goes up, im pretty much done for the night because i will be wanted in my home systems and will have to wait for the notoriety to decay.
Poison pill missions like this are one of the big reasons i took a months long break from the game recently and its screw ups like this that make playing the BGS extremely frustrating.
PLEASE FIX THESE MISSIONS.
Specifically the kill x number of ships of y faction.
In my experience they have worked about 30% of the time and actually detract from the faction who is giving them, because they occupy a spot that a doable mission might occupy and waste the time of people who try to take missions, not for the credits, but to support a player faction.
If you cant fix them, remove them from the mission boards.
