FD please for the sake of God RESTORE orbitals lines

I know that some people had asked for option to remove orbital lines, and FD did a right thing granting their request by adding an option to remove orbital lines completely. But what about people like me, who find orbital lines really useful? I am in exploring expedition right now, and disappearing orbital lines are indeed very annoying and confusing. Can FD add third option for orbital lines, that makes them permanent?

Edit: wrong section, please move it into Dangerous Discussion.

Check in the right hand panels and options somewhere, then select 'show orbital lines'

I think it's 'off' by default now, but I have them on. I like them.

I think OP was referring to the fact that orbital lines, even if enabled, fade away when you throttle to 0, and only the orbital of the current selected object is displayed. I'm fine with it, but a thrd option shouldn't harm.

I for one, would like this to be an option at least until we get the orrery view in system map.

For the time being, i have to fly up and then back down to appreciate the systems orbits and trace fastest scanning path.

I could have a less stressful comeback if they were on. Or better yet, just gove us the orrery view already!!

True. I also want to see the orbital lines of other objects nearby as you approach them. Seeing the orbital line of the planet still displayed as you approach a station is often helpful in lining up, especially when you approach from above or below. Just having the orbital line of the station when everything else is behind you doesn't work because a line is a line and viewed from any direction, is just a line. So you can't be sure if you are actually on the orbital plane or still above or below it. At present, the orbital line of the planet disappears when you get to a certain distance from it, leaving only the orbital line of the station.

With the absence of an entry vector for the stations, it's useful to bring us out at an angle up to 80 degrees from the mail slot. Personally, I'd prefer to have an entry vector we can follow to bring us out closer to a 30 degree cone from the mail slot which would also be more useful for smugglers who can't afford the luxury of flying around outside too long where they can be scanned. Since we don't have an Autopilot that can bring us out of SC right in front of the mail slot as we did in the original Elite, the entry vector would give us some way of doing the same thing manually (and gives us something to do in SC other than wait for a light to appear to tell us it's safe to drop out).

Summed up nicely. All great, great points.

You have a couple of options here. You can keep an eye on the orbital line of the station and see when it flattens out, or you can use the radar to see if you are sitting above or below the orbital plane of the planet. Either of these will work, and having the orbital line of the planet "visible" won't help because, as you say, it is behind you so won't show on your screen.
