Powerplay FD You're disgraceful - Re: Torval (Empire bailout)

I'm only guessing and going by how long it takes a small change like a faction to take over a single station or to flip a government and then scaling it up in relation to the size of power play. It's been about three months. I wouldnt expect a galactic power to collapse so quickly and so soon after being established. In many ways this could be the early days of powerplay and the next step being player factions becoming powers is probably not going to happen in a couple of months, I guess.

Yes given the senireo I'm putting forward then you are right in that context. And the apparent evidence can be seen in the longevity or Archon, Torval and so on.

Look where the Hudson HQ is. Distance penalties make empire space completely worthless to us.

Sure if you are min-maxing. That is not true if the ethos is working correctly. Plus as I stated before Hudson has some super high CC systems near his HQ.

I just spotted this...

I just want to say about the "Imperial bias": it's always been there. When I played Frontier in 1997, the Empire had better ships (the mighty Imperial Courier), the Federation was meh and every player was fascinated with the mysterious background of the Empire. I find logical that this bias is also in E:D. If you join the Federation, as I did, expect even more bias. Imagine you try to win the league with a team that doesn't see usually many favours by the referees (West Ham? Fulham?)...

John I don't believe that is true - I actually prefer the core dynamics look of the federal navy ships. Step away from PP for one single moment and think about it. If it wasn't a competition then both of the older major factions have there good and bad aspects. The Alliance is in contact with Thargoids. Add in the corporate, cultist and pirate independents to the mix for flavour and everyone has a reason to either support or dislike the other powers.

The over competitive nature that powerplay brings out in people is why I would have preferred the whole thing to be scripted with players activities having a minimal input on the state of the galaxy.

We could have a congruent narrative. Eranin celebrated 30 years independence from the Feds in the beta. I bet the controlling minor faction has flipped more times than a pancake since then.

It was the sense of scale and lack of control that made the Feds and empire seem so mystic in those days of yore. Now we have Reddit :(

I completely agree :)

I also dislike when things become too competitive. However PP gave people reasons to create a character and do some RP, before it was a more intimate choice.

That is how I remember Frontier/FFE, too.

Additionally, without enough reliable data we can not rule out that FD may be reacting to the players' Empire bias rather than leading it. While we can *guess* where in the bubble players prefer to operate from Cadoc & succs. brilliant pieces of PP analysis, FD has much more reliable data in their logs., esp. regarding about those players who do not engage in PP.

IRL, if my data analysis showed that a majority of my customers operate in a certain region, I would try to adapt my products to that regional preference.
