You're not the only one. I solo'd a thargoid in a FAS today. You don't need one of the big 3.

That's without all the lovely (most likely gimbal scrub) weaponry that will be released in the future.

the only way to SOLO a Thargoid currently is to exploit its bad AI design... the only people who seem to be able to SOLO it are what I would consider the Pros of this game,.

This suggests logically that you only consider those who exploit the game as 'Pros'

Powder, I'll give you the props, you called it. Personally I'm just happy that they aren't 'easy' to solo. I had a reputation in wow for soloing impossible stuff with focused builds and deep knowledge of the ai mechanics, so it's not a new phenomenon for pro type players, FD probably intended for these to be soloable. I'll be home tomorrow afternoon at last and can't wait to test my skills. I'm still looking forward to multiple and more powerful contacts that will require groups to focus and learn.
