Dear Frontier.
I started to play ED the 6th of the last febuary, after few years on Eve Online because this one was becaming a pay-to-win machine. The first thing that seduced me was that you told me : "Experience infinite freedom as you earn the skill, knowledge, wealth and power to stand among the ranks of the Elite." And it was the case, before 2.1. Of course, there was in your game some stuffs that needed to be changed and/or fixed, but it was for me essentialy an experience of freedom. When I wanted to bounty, I could. When I wanted to trade, I could. Those two activities was those I wanted to do to earning money in-game to buy and fit the ship I wanted to fly, not running missions. The second one was the fact that is ED is a kind of space simulator. Not a totaly realistic one but enought to make me believe I flew in space. Then, 2.1 came. Bounty hunting revenues gone down, and now, trading too. For this last case, in particular, the way you drive the market is totaly a lake of sense and logical.
Its absolutely not a matter of supply and demand. Its your fantasy, the way you want to drive players to the Engineers, the grindwall and the RNG machine. You have changed your game in a "Disney world in the space" park.
At the begining of this week, the price of Imperial Slaves, where I used to trade it, was relativaly balanced, even you manipulated the supply and the demand, it was a bit balanced and gave to that a bit of sense. Of course, I know people run the same route, and I know its influencing the prices, as it change the supply and demand amounts. But now, it don't. Is there a logical reason to that ? Is there a lake of employement that make the demand goes down and/or, in the same time, the supply, in few days ? I thought it was just the case with the trade route I ran, but it dont. Many people I play with tell me the same. And those people think that, in fact, you want to push us to missions where we will rewarded by Engineers stuffs we dont want and cash. Personnaly, I dont want to grind for any upgrade. I don't want to run missions too. I'm not the only one. And I'm not a children, too. I do not want to be treated like a who need to be educated about the best way to play by you. Sorry commanders if my english seem being written by a one but I don't have too much skills in english. I do the best I can. I 49 years old and now, when I log on, I feel myself like a dumb.
You want to make the Engineers a major part of your game. But remember : Elite Dangerous is supposed to be a sandbox, a place where every players can do what he want when he logged on. Its not you who can decide if the Engineers will become a major part of your game but us, the players. But more than that, you don't have to force any single player on the universe you build to see the Engineers like that. The best way for you to make the Engineers a good extensions is to let players play with that if they want, when they want. The best way for you to make Elite Dangerous a good game that have success is here. And you missed the target, here !
Seriously, the only activities that it could practicing in freedom now is exploration. Good. I wanted to explore the galaxy when I bought the game, so I'll do. I didn't plan to do that now but as you broke all the other game play that fitted to me, its the only one left to me now, if I want to having fun when I log on.
And when I'll come back from the dark, what will going on ?
