@FDEV Light Weight Cargo Racks

Hi guys

I'm not on beta so perhaps this is already coming but why can't we have light weight cargo racks mods. Mass is the key to FSD jump range. Theres light weight for evrything else

Just a thought

Cargo racks don't weigh anything, it's that one tonne of cargo weighs one tonne.

However, I would like to see some kind of high-density cargo racks that require additional mass and power to store more cargo.

What you should be able to do is mod cargo racks for smuggling, as most of the engineers are on the darker side of the path it's surprising there's not one doing work specific for smugglers. The ability to deflect or confuse scans must surely be the holy grail for a engineer dedicated to the dark side. If Han Solo has smugglers compartments on that rust bucket why can't we?

Sounds good to me.

I suppose the only issue would be how you "grade" the mod's to suit the way engineering works.
Everything has to be improved by an arbitrary percentage according to the level of engineering and I'm not sure how you'd apply that to a "hidden compartment" - which would either simply BE hidden, or not.

They'd probably have to add "ease of detection" as a factor and then reduce that as you apply levels of modification.

Having a compartment that "cloaks" could just function much like heat detection already does now. Having the hiding function on reduces the distance at which it can be seen and read for what it carries, with higher levels have smaller distances needed.

Another option (maybe the higher credit one due to effectiveness) could be the compartment be disguised as some other module or carrying some "safe" cargo, which would be more convincing to scans than just some space that can't be seen into.
