@FDev - Please, never again add 30+ npc ships in front of a CG station for ?? flavour ??

People are complaining about FC's causing lag, yes, I understand it's an ongoing thing. But quite honestly I don't remember the last time I had lag like this CG. Other than orange sidewinders, which still are not fixed btw @FDev, numbers of FC don't seem to cause me issues.

BUT this little CZ, or w/e you want to call it, right in front of Oterma Station in Baal, OMG why!? For flavour? Each time I enter this instance to unload cargo its stttt -tttt -tttt -tttt -uttter, huge frame rate drop instantly.
Could it have something to do with 30+ npc ships and about as many wake signals, plus the capital ship dock and the station spewing gun fire at all the navy ships? Maybe? hmm?

Is this supposed to have something to do with the storyline? May I suggest writing something next time that does not involve a serving of gratuitous lag?

Thank you

have you never been to a station with a capital ship dock before? That's pretty standard.

Especially the bit about the station and navy ships aggro bugging out and the navy trying to attack the station. It happens more in open, something about players entering and leaving the instance seems to make hostility more prone to glitching.

Yes I have, and I don't recall lag, not like this, so even if there was a bit, it's nothing like what I am experiencing here. Regardless, thats beside the point.

If massive lag at a Capital ship is normal, then all the more reason to NOT have a CG at the station with a capital ship on it's doorstep, wouldn't you agree?

I see the large numbers of NPCs about every third run the rest of the time is like any other lonely place I visit, even when it is crowded with gunfire everywhere it hasn't affected my dodgy system with as much lag as I get at a Crystal Shard Bio Site.

All that said my screen has never looked as crowded as yours, also due to lag issues when lots of other players are expected to be around I am in Mobius as usual and get about 20-25 FPS in Baal.

Edit: Just tried in Open saw more NPCs and dropped to 15-16 FPS but no noticeable lags.

Im sure the manager is aware, Karen.

That is one crazy radar, Ive never seen that tbh
So, there was a bug a while back where randomly, a mission POI would just constantly respawn. I got about 40 instances of the same poi spawn on itself (that meant 120 skimmers and around 300 jet cans).

That's what it looks like from here... the one poi has initialised dozens of times. It's a rare bug, think it's to do with bad client latency with the servers.

That or OP was sitting in the station afk for hours.

I did about 8 runs. Every time was the same. I took that screen shot less than 30 seconds after dropping in to the station. Didn't spend any time afk, just in to sell and off again. Everything would spawn like maybe 5-10 seconds after dropping in, and huge frame drop with it. If it's a rare bug I guess I'm just really lucky =(

I really didn't notice anything on ps4
PS4 has asset generation locked... youll not see frame rate drop youll see less AI assets all the time...
same happens in CZ, installations and the rocks for mining...
PC will see Frame rate crashes instead of items not being rendered... Frame rates bad enough as it is on conole...

Those NPCs are only there because a nearly 6 years old bug is stalling some NPCs.
That means more are spawning without the proper amount leaving as well.

But since fixing this bug reported lots of times over several years never had priority, everyone is gifted with its presence and the results.

PS.
You'll likely also occasionally notice Station Patrol Fighters leaving their orbits or being so far away they don't even appear on the Scanners.
Yep, that's another ~6 year old bug.

Today's Twitch stream will be about ongoing Community Goal. So Bruce and Arf will have a chance to see it by themselves ;)

I got excited and wanted to join in on the fighting but noone was wanted and there was no prompt to pick a side. Oh well. If they can work out the fps issue this would be great to implement in systems at war.

It was happening in Mobius PG the other day and also this arvo. I believe it is a build-up of NPCs over a long-persisting instance (i.e. open or a busy PG with continual presence of commanders) as it was not aparrent when I went back in another PG.
Jaques Station gets this sort of thing all the time because the nearby tourist beacons attract a lot of passenger liners in and out, and there's usually someone there in Open.

It's manageable most of the time.
