FDEV why are you allowing use of the Blocking Feature to escape possible player threats??

OP, it's not an exploit; it's working as intended.

I am so tired of hearing PvP'ers complaining about others not being forced to be their canon fodder.

It's intended for a gank wing of Cutters to be able to block the escorts for a wing of explorers, so that they can pod the explorers without the escorts being able to instance with the rest of their wing correctly?

Cause that's about the only time I've been certain the feature was actually working.

Just because it's working as intended, doesn't mean it can't be abused. Ramming ships at a station is another problematic example. For me, the fix for such issues is to play in Solo.

If a player kills you then you carry on with your day. If a player tells you to kill yourself. Then you block them.

Is it really that complicated for some of you? Any use of the block feature other than to halt genuine harassment is unintended by most developers.

That's one opinion. Another opinion is that it allows a player a finer-grained control over who they decide to play with.

I think for some its why they killed them, if it was for no other reason than said killer could get their jollys off then Id be blocking them for sure, if how ever it was somone RP the pirate and I tried to get away and they then killed me then no I wouldnt be blocking them.

But as said I use the mother of all block lists that being the one called SOLO, or If I want to play with like minded people I jump into the PG of your namesake. :| then I dont have to worry about the "insert word of choice".

I get the feeling not everyone in this thread has read the OP properly. This isn't about PVE players blocking PVP "griefers". This is about the possibility of PVP players blocking other PVP players because the former are not as "gud", or have more weakly Engineered ships, or have limited funds for insurance.

As a PVE player this is all academic to me but I'd be lying if I said it didn't amuse me a little, assuming it's true. Also, if this is relatively new behaviour I can't help but wonder about the timing. There may have been changes to the way Blocking works but there was also a significant purge of exploited modules not too long ago. Might it be that some formerly apex PVP players now find themselves flying less than apex ships, and are taking advantage of the game's mechanics while they re-roll for their various Grade 5 modifications?

Yes, Blocking shouldn't stop/reduce instancing with the player but again there can be very good arguments against that. things may change with new C&P system.

Surely the new C&P can only work with the blocking feature remove, otherwise their no point to many of the new features. An if people don't want to play with other people their solo.

It probably should be a 24hr thing and then if you want to permanently block them you ask frontier.

You like FDEV to spend more time on blocking than other stuff?? Please let them not spend time on things like that.
But again , to each his own.

What other developers would intend isn't relevant here. What the Frontier developers intend of course is, and here's an example of that from a stream during the 2.3 beta when the block function was being made more accessible.

The customer service team aren't the ones developing the game. They can handle requests for permanent blocks.
