Fdevs, about to time to lift 2 million cap from claiming PVP bounties

So yeah, as title says....

We recently had very nice buffs related to combat in almost all areas... missions, combat zones, npcs bounties and xeno-hunt all of these was nicely buffed with one thing left out...

PVP bounties... as these are capped at 2 million since years, Im quite sure that not only me, but any veteran PVP cmdrs will probly felt same about it. Its a relic of past, and it should be upped atleast to 10m.

Right now, almost no one bother with full-scale PVP bounty hunting, since risk of getting killed is quite high, since most cmdrs who have high bounties on them are quite experienced in PVP and most of cmdrs who are not as experienced who might go after them, will take more than single rebuy to take them down. That limit discourages a lot any new ones cmdrs who might wanna role-play as bounty hunters in order to challenge them, as currently, rebuy of ships required to do such job is way higher than silly 2m, and when they take rebuy or two, many stop at such point.

There is few groups well as inviduals cmdrs who are bounty huntin, but not single of them are doing that for credits, its more about end-game PVP niche and role-playing.

Im not saying that limit should be lifted, but it certainly need be higher than 2 million. Otherwise PVP bounty hunt remain as niche end-game stuff only for veterans...
With all current earing options we have right now, 10m or even 20m cap wont make suddenly surge of cmdrs who gives thier bounties away for real money, wich was reason why cap was done back then.

Its never late to make that change happen, so Fdevs, pls consider that again.

I think it depends more on what's lost, and how efficient it is.

The bounty is ON PAPER supposed to get people killed so they have to rebuy. If they can clear significant amounts of bounty easily with only one rebuy, that makes bounties even more pointless.

And if a group of players just trade bounties back and forth, the money will go to the people who did the "naughty" PVP. Which is the exact opposite of the intention.

It's a very hard system to plug all the possible loopholes.

Not just that, but because bounties are equally awarded to all participants, instead of split, it could be a source of income generation.
1 person racks up 20m bounty. 4 players kill him. 4 x 20m paid out. But only 20m + rebuy is drained from the system.
In general, things like that are balanced or negatively geared. THey current system is positively geared. Just like any wing mission. Reward is equally awarded instead of split between participants.

Well, BGS well as whenever PVP affecting it or not is something about which I dont care at all, neither it was point of my suggestion. If there is cmdrs or groups of them who exploit that system to gain or lose at BGS, well let them have it, its thier game and choices... not to mention, BGS is completly diffrent form of activity than PVP bounty hunting, and opinions such as "EEH, DONT TOUCH PVP BOUNTY CAP LIMIT CUZ IT GONNA AFFECT MY BGS" means that they either dont PVP that much or very litte.

And anyone who are like that should go back to thier private groups and thier BGS, where can play with thier BGS sandbox much as they want, cuz Open PVP is certainly not thier thing. IMHO.

One of reason why there is a lot more veteran preps than bounty hunters who are still active at PVP, is because currently game does not encourage bounty hunters into PVP hunting activity in first place, I mean especially any potential new ones, risk/reward wise. Getting into PVP is already behind quite of wall that is engineering and certain knowledge that comes with experience. Having silly 2 million cap per system is ancient relic of past, when there was not much of options to earn credits as we can currently, and we had ppl who sold their bounties for real money, wich triggerd that cap being into game instantly since word got out.

If I would be flyin at open at CG with 25million bounty on me, anyone who would wanna claim it would have try really hard in order to defeat me, and if they would manage it, I happly pay my rebuy + that bounty to any cmdr who would earn it and that cmdr should get all credits that for their effort, not just tiny scrap of it.

You could remove the kill share multiplier from player kills and make sure no net credits are generated from a player kill, even take a commission so it's less.

If a player killed is bankrupted by the bounty payoff then the bounty is capped at how much they have (maybe let them rebuy first as well). If they own a fleet carrier (where they may have stashed all their cash to exploit this), then don't cap bounty, but fund it with a loan that gets paid off as a tax in every subsequent transaction they make, especially when selling ships and modules, and by voiding/reducing rebuy insurance.

Remove player bounties from any effect on BGS. CMDRs are the things that influence BGS, so killing a criminal in system already implicitly imparts a positive influence - they were probably causing trouble, amirite? I mean, do this anyway, it's already a problem.

Assorted other oddities such as insane fines for failing high value delivery missions bankrupting CMDRs who unintentionally fall foul of this system may need to be factored in or dealt with better (work for FDev).

Then this might work.

I think you answered you own question quite nicely...

One of my main's squadron members had over 3 billion bounty... I wouldn't be surprised if some other 'player' would pay real money to be able to claim that...

Why so hostile?

Btw, are you that Eravate Elpapo?

I think you should guess it yourself.

Never said anything about complete removal of bounty cap, I just suggested that it should be bit higher than 2m, thats it. Complete removal would not a good thing for game.
Years ago, cmdrs used to let be scanned with illegal cargo and that how they would rack up extreme bounties so later they would sold/donate it to others. So limits where issued.
Today all needed is just gank some small ship with 1b cutter, and its even easier to have bounties that big.

Easy - He is a PvP player (special!) Don't have any interest in BGS, so anyone who does is a carebear, amirite?

If they would were not, then there would be no such disagree with my proposal, under BGS reasons wich, I remind again, its a PVE activity.
Maybe not all of them, but majority of them certainly yes.

Why so hostile?

Not meant be hostile, I just defending my opinion, it may sounds harsh but thats how it is.

Hmmm...I need a Fleet Carrier. 5 Billion right?

Enters solo mode, finds a low sec system and begins swatting every lawful NPC he can find. Gets 5Bil bounty. Halts ship in SC just away from main star.

Loads alt CMDR, flies to same system, interdicts self. Lower sheilds on wanted CMDR, ship goes boop. Makes easy 5Bil.

Nah, that'd never happen.

Sorry could you repeat that, I forgot to take notes... for a friend 🤔

2 million doesn't even cover half the rebuy on the ships I'd use to hunt other players. Taking down another experienced player and their well-built ship is incredibly dangerous, and can easily result in death, or single-digit hull numbers by the end of it. It should be at least worth taking the risk.

It's time to remove the cap. Let bounties get crazy high, and let us claim them.

If the bounty binds to the rebuy, how many people are gonna sacrifice 100s of millions of credits over the crappy BGS mechanic? Farming NPC bounties will still be more consistent than hunting players in that regard anyway. Disconnect it from BGS entirely if necessary, whatever it takes.
