FDevs! You look here what!

I have been spending many a fine hour in my Vulture skimming asteroid belts while stalking miscreants; ne'er do wells and other assorted ruffians, what.

I must say that the Vulture is the thoroughbred fighter that so many had said it is, what. I cannot heap enough praise upon you fine individuals for having delivered the vessel of my dreams. The thrill of the hunt and rush of the chase can only be likened to the daring of having elevensies at twelve fifteen, what!

I have only one complaint regarding the Vulture. Why oh why are the paint schemes your engineers apply at station, docks and ports so, so this:

And not this:

Hmm?

Now I am a fair chap and have been known on occasion to give some leeway when it is warranted, what. However; I must be absolutely clear that if this situation is not corrected post haste, I will be forced to invite your commanding officer to bally tiddlywinks at dawn! You hear? I did not earn the title of 'the thumb press assassin' for no reason, what!

Damn your eyes!

In Hydrae, Herculis and Howe, Hurricanes hardly happen!

And a replica too.
The original crashed and burned during WW2

Indeed...I found this, so I was wrong about it being a IIa... although it does have a MkII variable pitch 3 blade prop instead of the MkI 2 blade wooden one.

"Hawker Hurricane Mk 1 Replica US-X

The Hawker Hurricane Mk l replica US-X has been most generously donated to the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust by the Tory Family Foundation. It represents as precisely as possible the 56 Squadron aircraft in which 20-year-old Pilot Officer Geoffrey Page was shot down and terribly burned on 12 August 1940."

The Hurricane fighter had been designed under the control of Hawker’s Chief Designer, Sydney Camm. The first flight took place on 6 November 1935 and the first operational examples joined 111 Squadron at Northolt at the end of 1937. During the Battle of Britain the Hurricane was in service with Fighter Command in greater numbers than the Spitfire and shot down far more enemy aircraft. In the later years of the war, the Hurricane achieved further fame in its “tank buster” role and it was not until 1947 that the type left squadron service with the RAF."

OMG! You spod! lol

This thread has brought me joy....continue!

Hang on till I dig through my loft....I've got pics of my grandfather from 1939 in the City of Edinburgh Squadron (23 Sqn) during the battle for France...some Battle of Britain ones during 1940 (56 Sqn) and then from Malta and also in his MkIIc tankbuster with the twin 20mm cannons in the Western desert in 1942... He switched to the Typhoon and Tempest after that pre D-Day for sorties across the channel.

I saluted him too (And my dad)... at my passing out parade many moons ago. He wasn't just my hero, he retired as a Wing Commander in 1952... my dad was still a serving Major in the Army :)

My family has been career military since 1648, my great grandfather who was originally in the Royal Scots Greys, rebadged to the Royal Flying Corps in 1915... both grandfathers were RAF during WWII. My Dad and me went back to Army...as did my son, who's a Sergeant in the 2nd Parachute regiment...
