FDs problem with the faceless NPCs...

First of all, I stopped playing about 5 weeks ago...
Had all I needed... A Class Python, a trading Conda and other smaller vessels. I´m Allied with all 3 factions and have reached the highest military ranks with Feds and Slavers ( which would fill a seperate topic alone cause its so wrong ).
But whats left and what is the gain for me ? Nothing at all ! Befriending any faction/nation gains you nothing, they treat me like on my first day. Missions didnt change at all even if I´m now their superduper ally CMDR nor did I get better prices for ships, modules or commodities that I could buy at their stations. But it also goes the other way around... I couldnt even tell you the local factions I dealt with for weeks because it doesnt matter... they all the same anyway.
The same bunch of faceless, bloodless space residents which give out the same missions over and over, behave the same ( apart from the greetings when requesting docking rights, yeah \o/ ) no matter how I behave or have treated them in the past aka killing them while grinding standings for other factions.
And this is the biggest problem of Frontier when it comes to keep players hooked in my option, your acting as a player has no consequenses and no impact at all. Best example are the guys in Lugh and Mikunn or other examples.

Do you guys really believe Frontier will be able to flesh out ( in an reasonable time ) NPCs and the background simulation to an degree that it comes close to an pure player driven economy and story ( thats your part to jump on, EVE haters  ) ?

Please refrain from posting stuff about:

- make your own story
- use your imagination
- immersion

I guess, it's still early'ish days. There's tonnes of suggestions for missions, it all comes down to how much resources you can assign to it, whilst tackling all the other requirements.

I found that these are the effects of the solitary Elite play style some people love so much (nothing wrong with that, but I am a social person, so...). Got bored pretty fast, but joining up with people and doing stuff together (or even against) made it interesting again for me. More hoping for such in "Wings".

Character models and faces are one of the few examples where ED should indeed follow Eves example!

I put together a whole thread about character modeling tools in different games that would suit ED well - with multiple references to the great Eve character creation tool :)

Perhaps you might want to check it out: NPCs with faces

So I'm assuming you're an Elite Combateer, Trader and Explorer then. Have you claimed the ten grand prize yet?

Never aimed for it. I have well paid job and dont need to turn full nerd to fund my living.

There is NOTHING left for you in this game! Uninstall it and leave the forums forever, buh bye now. *Throws a slice of cheese at the OP*, that's for your whine, enjoy!

Your reply indicates that you also realised that your beloved game isnt as deep as you thought, right ?

To be honest, its not about giving them faces, its about how they act. Eye candy is already enough in ED.

So why are you posting? Seriously. If you get bored with games play something else.
I haven't held a grudge over ex-girlfriends that long.

It's just like this: Not every game is for everyone. This is just not the game for you. Deal with it.

I dont stated anywere in my OP that I have left ED for good or did I ? All you guys attacking me instead of anwsering my question seem pretty angry that I have maybe 1 or 2 points right in my statements !

It's about both. Right now we don't have NPCs in the game at all. Just entries on a bulletin board and pilotless ships. So, I think some "improvement" in the visual representation of NPCs is advisable ;)

You're not wrong, things are a bit shallow, I've only been playing a few weeks and I can already see how thin the game is in parts.

However, please explain what you hope to achieve with your post, which to me seems to be the same as about 50% of the threads in here, which, when read, seem to contain about 50% of opinions matching the OP and 50% against the OP...

You're throwing a stick into the tornado.

Either it gets better or it doesn't. Either they flesh out the galaxy or they don't.

If your intention is simply to vent, then you've achieved your goal. If you think you'll change something, I doubt it.

If you really can't find a reason to play the game, just don't. Nobody is forcing you to. From the sounds of it, you pretty much have done everything you wanted. Congrats. Now's the time to decide: do you have any other goals in mind for the game, or are you desparately overextending its lifespan?

I'd suggest you just put it down for maybe a month or two. Plenty more games out there to keep you going in the meantime. Come back after a few updates, see if any of it interests you.

You probably right to some degree when it comes to the topics here on this forum.

My question was honest tho as I´m not sure if a reletive small team like FD is able to fill a Olympic Swimming Pool with a spoon in a reasonable timeframe before this game is written off as dead by people who influence what others buy.

You want an answer? here's an answer: The things you stated we shouldn't post

You have no imagination
You are incapable of immersion in this game
You are incapable of setting your own goals and deriving pleasure from achieving them

That's not 'angry' or meant to insult. It's just that you're probably into a different kind of games.
Those where the story is spelled out for you.
Those with a linear progression and some final boss where you can check off progression marks.
Those where you get a pat on the back from a ratings system every time you do something (like grades in school, or 'achievements', or a score, or a level or a shiny new hat to wear, or whatever).

Not everyone is like that, however. Some do achieve immersion and are quite happy with turning the experience into their own story (using their own imagination). That's just the way this game is structured - and I think its extremely unlikely that FD will give up that vision (at least I fervently hope they don't. There's hardly any other game like that out there. Certainly none in the space sim/opera field.)

Sorry you are wrong about what kind of games I´m into. And you just showed that a true "fanboi" ( please dont take that as an insult ) can`t stop the steam comming up if someone showing them some obvious flaws in the system and you instantly forget to give an honest awnser to the question that was actually asked because the OP doesnt loves your game as much as you do.

jokes on you because you're not using your imagination tm

I can deal with that :D

in a reasonable timeframe .

That's really the key, and what's reasonable for a lot of people clearly isn't reasonable for you (And a lot of other people).

Free improvements will come, expansion packs will come.

It's up to you whether or not they turn up in a time frame that YOU deem reasonable, and neither FD nor the rest of this forum can do anything about your opinion.
