Elite / Frontier FE2 faces video replacement for FFE?

Hi all,

I seem to remember there was a video replacement pack for FFE, one that would replace the default videos with the BBS faces from FE2. Does anyone still have it or know where I could get it?

I am not 100% sure, but didn't the floppy disk version of FFE have the FE2 faces? Perhaps thats where you could start your search? If you do find em, try them out in GL FFE and FFE3D and see if they work!

I know that the shareware FFE didn't have the FE2 faces, and I downloaded the FE2 faces pack after seeing the link years ago on alt.fan.elite and I do still have it. (In fact, it's in use on my copy of FFE) I'm pretty sure that someone went out of their way to encode the entire set specifically for FFE, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember the details.

I'd need to borrow someone else's internet access and upload it to a decent file sharing site (been ages since I actually looked for any) before I could share it.

Cheers for that - I'll bung it onto my flashdrive and try to get it uploaded on Sunday - if I can borrow a relative's connection.

You might want to hold off over the weekend as Darkone (the SSC admin) is updating the site. The download area should be up and running again next week.

That's me now uploaded the video files for anyone who's interested.

As I say on the "notes" section they're pretty easy to get in - just put them in the "DATA" folder and point the config file there.

The file's still currently red on the list (I assume it needs to be approved) and is 1.65Mb to download

On a side note I've just found out who it was who originally did the conversion - From the looks of things it might've been "Frantic".

Anyway - download link - http://spacesimcentral.com/forum/files/file/877-ffe-video-replacement/

In JJFFE, look for a file called ffewin.cfg. Open that with note pad and look for an entry under DIR like this;

[DIR]
SamplePath=FX
SongPath=MUSIC
AVIPath=DATA
BMPPath=DATA
CmmdrPath=COMMANDR

Note ther line that says AVIPath=Data or BMPPath=DATA, this means the game will look for the picture files in the DATA folder, so this is where you copy them to. Hope that helps you :)
