Elite / Frontier FE2 Game Save Editor on Win 7

Anyone have any luck getting the FE2 Game Save Editor to work on Win 7???

Also: can anyone tell me if you can cook/edit the time & date in the save file with said editing tools???

Basically I want to travel without wormholes to a far flung pocket of civilisation ... Arhoqu 766,-39 being my first stop.

I have an Asp Explorer which due to some top secret military plans I stole from the Empire (now the Emperor wants me dead :p )... has a compact class 8 drive installed. So I can jump a fair way... but making it all the way out to Arhoqu before my drive fails is pretty high risk.

I am just wondering if there is a way to do it?? Cooking the date/time seems like the best option...

... yeah but it's a windows based application? Know what I'm saying?? Unless someone has a copy they can direct me to that's DOS based??

Anyway, does anyone -AHEM POTSMOKE- know if you can edit the stardate in the save file????? Cause then I'd be sorted and I'll do whatever I can to get the FE2 Save Game Editor to work.

do you know if I can get this in english? Have you used this before? I know this is going to help but everytime I click on something an alert box pops up - and of course it's in strange ascii code that I'm guessing should be cyrillic - but then of course I can't read cyrillic either so I'm a little stuck...
