Feature or bug? Can't layer other windows in Services UI

Go to Starport Services. Then try to press 1 or 3 or try to go to messages, or Maps - can't go anywhere until you leave Starport services. You can go to the shown services such as missions and shipyard and so on, you just can't go to anything else using the keyboard. Honestly FD - why do you always break so much stuff with each release? Simple things. So frustrating. I also hunted around to find a link to the issues tracker or whatever you are supposed to report bugs in but there is nothing to be found anywhere as far as I can see. Goodness knows how you are supposed to know these things. Grrr

Maybe it is just me and my kb then. Quite possible. I am an idiot after all - exactly as your sarcasm implies.

The previous poster is not making fun of you. The text shown on the link is not the one shown if you click on it. They actually refer to a new bug that appeared with P12, and FDEV are aware.

It is pretty frustrating, but it is (now) consistent with some other screens that are not part of the HUD but actually another screen.

Struggling to see any reason why this change would have been made deliberately to improve the game for players, but it may have been done in the belief that all screens should act that way.

IMO station services should be part of the HUD not a separate screen, so headlook and the rest of the HUD should remain interactive.

This particular bug/feature has happened before (and was reversed/corrected of course).

The link was to my post yesterday highlighting the same issue and included a link to the Issue in the Issue Tracker. No idea why the forum software shows a different post but the link still goes to the correct post, as you'd know if you bothered to click on it.

Maybe try that before you accuse people of sarcasm next time?

It's the same Issue that Ian has just linked.

Didn't realise it was a link. Come on - relax - can't you spot humour?

Not easily on a pure text medium like a forum, especially one where participants are from different cultures.

As to your original question it might be either but is probably a feature* just as stopping us scrolling right off the services screen to appear back at the left hand side was.

Just an annoying and unpopular one.

Yeah normally I go from filling the ship with Tritium straight to the donate screen, but now I have to back out of the services screen to fill the ship with tritium and re-enter the services screen to donate. I don't think it's deliberate but actually a by-product of making such features accessible from sitting in the concourse, the spaghetti got pulled in the wrong direction when working on that and disabled access in other areas, hopefully it will be back, it's an inconvenience at the moment, there are worse bugs from update 12.

I know there's been a few longstanding race conditions involving UI focus switching. For example when you switch focus to a different UI while the previous one is loading something, you can sometimes end up with input focus in in both UIs simultaneously. Which can lead to stuff like inadvertently disembarking or launching off the pad while you're in the nav panel trying to select a destination.

However they hardly seem like a reason to axe functionality that contributes a lot to QoL, so I hope that wasn't the reason.

I hope that they can get this fixed. It is quite annoying.
Not only does it make it harder to keep track of your missions, it also removes the possibility of using a 'work-around' for when the main-screen menu gets stuck in a loop.
Before now you could move to the 'internals' screen and open the 'Engineers' tab, to halt the loop and return to normal.
Without the opportunity to move to the RH side screen, I don't know how I'd deal with this kind of hang-up.

Unfortunately, when You got stuck in some of the station menues opening the engineers or superpowers on the right side did a reset and restored your UI!!!
now You only can relog to solve it - this hurts

When doing a delivery mission and you're dropping off cargo in the delivery depot, if you accidentally click on the background of the UI (ie: not the arrows or confirm/cancel buttons), it softlocks the whole station menu. Apparently this has been an issue with the Odyssey UI since day 1, except now that we're locked out of accessing the right-side panel we can no longer escape out of the softlock by entering a menu that overrides the station UI.
