Feature Req: Docking not required for non physical goods missions

Being able to receive and transmit data whilst in radio range was possible in the year 1997, and not possible in 2300 ?, after all it's just bits of data, the schlep of having to dock to receive data missions and the rewards thereof seems odd in the era of FTL, Wake scanners, Discovery scanners etc. lots of High tech but I need to dock to receive a mission which doesn't have rewards attached, odd that, especially odd is the necessity to have to dock to receive credit rewards only.

If I can chat to the station and it can scan me for contents SURELY I can communicate with the station for non physical missions at a distance?.

I think transferring confidential intel packages through space is unwise, any one could sit directly between you and the station and intercept it. In fact if they allow it I also hope they allow players a method to intercept and steal the data in transit, that would make some interesting gameplay. I think it's sort of like a, "deliver this personally or don't get paid" mission because they don't want to take the chance of it getting intercepted on route, otherwise why even bother with a manned vessel, just despatch an unmanned messenger pod at a fraction of the cost.

Year 2300 and unmanned fighter drone's aren't available ?, defies belief somewhat. Year 1998 UAV's carry out bombing and assassination missions remotely controlled from thousands of miles away via secure data transmission which I'm surprised that nobodies been able to hack, yet....
This is a game right so anythings possible with zero's and one's, what I'm trying to put forward is a decrease in grind in order to make the game a bit more fun, why the need to dock to collect only a credit reward,....make it fun, remove some of the grind whilst retaining realism, more so infact.

And what I am saying is, with all the methods available for intercepting ships and data the only way to be sure your data has reached the correct person without being intercepted by anyone else is to have it delivered in person in a sealed package, hence actual people and not drones that can be intercepted and reprogrammed to conceal the interception or transmission through space that could be intercepted with no-one being the wiser. if we extend your idea more why not just let me fly outside the station and transmit it from there, that would certainly save a lot more grind right? There are many reasons why it might need to be done in person, but you just want to remove the necessity of flying through the letterbox to save you a few game minutes. If the grind of delivering data packages annoys you that much just stop doing them, I did ages ago.

Bit off topic, but where are you getting the date 2300 from?

Less off topic. Whether this or that thing would logically be available in the future is less important to the developer than the gameplay they are trying to create.

Courier missions sometimes have rewards attached so I'm ok with docking for those.

whoa there sister, get off your high horse....You misunderstand my concept I am not referring to the courier missions, do you actually understand what I'm trying to present ? data = credits, bitcoin, bounty vouchers, fines, WHICH DON'T require docking should be transmitted wirelessly near a station, If I have one bountry credit to hand in at a station and I have no intention of doing anything else in that system, why waste time docking.....orbit station, pay, and move on.
"GNN hassle free banking coming to a station near you", no parking required. If you don't like the idea...be on your way nothing to see here :))

In E: D we can transmit a holo-me across the galaxy in real-time. Why do we need ships for data Xfer at all?

I'd take this further and say that physically docking at a station should cost money, but you can pull up close (maybe having to wait in a queue) and offload cargo or data without the need to physically dock. This way docking would be reserved only for those cases where you wanted a safe place to stay or when performing outfitting or switching ships, or picking up new cargo or passengers, or if you didn't want to wait in the queues for your chance to offload your cargo. This would make deliveries more realistic imo and would provide the stations with a source of income. Richer systems might even charge more for docking which could add a new dynamic to the game.
