[FEATURE REQUEST] Match Target Speed

I don't think I have played a single Flying game (be it in Space or just normal atmosphere) that did not have a match speed hotkey.

This is very useful in combat, however that is not why I think the game needs it. Wings 1.2 has been great. Lots of great features and fun, but one main issue is that many of the Nav Lock features are hard to use (or at least tricky, especially when you are learning them) because you keep passing others in SC or they get too far ahead, etc etc.

Match target speed, which changes speeds with them, would solve nearly all the issues my buddies and I have encountered during Wings jumping.

Flying close and then matching speed would keep us in formation and allow the leader to speed up or slow down without us flying by them or getting far behind. Am really not sure how this feature was not included?

I asked this before and everyone though I meant during combat. I just want this to be able to fly in a Wing, too! I posted this type of thread months ago before the release, in beta, so it's dorwned now :) thanks for reviving the thread. +rep.

Yeah, I mean in combat it would be nice but combat in this game is more like close quarters dog fights, it's not even needed in combat. But in SC and just in Wings in general it is DEFINITELY needed. I don't know how it is not already a feature. It's hard to follow someone..when we are winging for like Strong Signal Sources..it becomes messy because as the leader or one who finds the sources speeds up and slows down the wings tend to fly past them or get too far behind to drop out automatically etc..

Match Speed would just fix SO many issues and there are no negatives to it!

Well, during combat, matching speeds would make the game pretty stale. Probably, a lot of people piloting the same ship would use it, and counteract the great amount of skill this game requires. i think it should be disabled during combat, but otherwise, yes.
