Feature Request: Refuel a Commander in Need

A fellow commander was out jumping from system to system trying to find a place to sell is Tobacco, but he neglected to watch his fuel gauge. I bought some Hydrogen from the market thinking he may be able to take that into his cargo bay and somehow "transfer" it to his fuel storage. I met up with my stranded fellow and jettisoned the hydrogen. He scooped it up with his cargo scoop, but there was no way to transfer this to his fuel storage....... *sigh*.

It would be helpful if we had some way to transfer fuel between vessels. Could we not just have an extra menu option in the cargo hold in addition to jettison when it is hydrogen cargo, such as "Refuel"?

We have all been there in real life: had a flat, lock the keys in the car, run out of fuel. It would be nice to do this in our virtual life as well :)

...... unless I totally missed something and it is in the game.

(This is not a rant. I am not a troll. I absolutely enjoy this game far more than any other I have ever played.)

It's 3300, I don't see why not.
Would be interesting if you could, for example, call for help in the system when your tank is empty and some kind soul might come to help, or rob you.

OR..... you send out the distress signal and some honest commander pops out of super cruise to help you only to be ambushed by your pirate affiliates!

A utility-mount module to act as a tether to tow stranded ships could work. Some kind of pulling ray maybe... Anyway more expensive ones to tow bigger ships, super-cruise only, etc etc etc.

You used to be able to activate a distress signal which would make an NPC come towards your ship to sell you Fuel at an increased cost, however they removed this feature with the comming of the fuel scoop, i've seen other posts about being able to help another commander and i'm all for it, but i feel like FD is going to stick with the "should have gotten a fuel scoop" mentality, at least for the time being

Well, quotes like "It's 3300, I don't see why not" are a bit annoying.
You can have a future which is not that much more advanced than what we have except on some bits. I so imagine Romans arriving in medieval times asking for future looking technologies and be disappointed! They could be many reasons why science is not that much more advanced (of course that would come with background story). I could come up with plenty of reasons.
Anyway, this is not to pick on you but it is a common theme among people in this forum.
Your idea to have distress call is good and the devs have mentioned that they are looking into building that feature in a way that makes sense (it used to be present in the beta). I think it will come eventually because it is a great feature but I really want it to make sense in the game universe.

Player-driven recovery would be great. As would NPC SAR ships who come when distressed signalled.

However, the idea of dumping freight fuel for others to use has come up before, and it has one huge drawback - if freight fuel can be transferred into main tanks, then it gives people a free fuel tank extension of potentially hundreds of tonnes. This leads to huge journeys without needing to spend a ship module slot on a fuel scoop.

Instead, with the rationale that freight fuel is relatively inert low grade fuel, whereas ship engine fuel is highly refined and volatile stuff that is too dangerous to carry as cargo (unless you want 99% of the canister to be containment systems instead of fuel ;), I would say that ships should have a mechanism to siphon fuel out of their main tank and eject it in some temporary (and fragile) blister for stranded ships to scoop. In the past, the objection raised against this was that it would devalue the Explorer Kickstarter reward ships, but I assert that since fuel scoops can now be fitted to any ship, this has already happened.
