Feature Request: Show current location on system map

This is a small thing but I'd like to see the blue navigation marker on the system map for current location, like the one that shows up on the Galmap showing current system. The gold destination marker shows up when you click a system or planet, as does locations of other ships and mission markers, but not my current location. Don't know if anybody else would find it handy, especially when flying with wingmates. Now that I think about it, I wonder if wing beacons might show up there. Have to go try that out...

The System Map is a 2d schematic graphic, neither in scale nor taking current orbital position into account. So this wouldn't be a "small thing"

I think when they finally get round to updating the System map 2D placeholder we have now we should get a current location pointer as well as an inter system waypoint navagation route planner.

I don't know about that... the game knows what local instance you occupy, be it a station, a resource site or a moon. They don't need to calculate a position so much as just mark your current instance on the map. Since the game allows you to navigate via the system menu, it doesn't seem like a stretch to be able to mark your current position. That's the view from the sidelines, anyway. It might very well be more difficult than that.

I'd understand if it did this while you were docked, but anything more is rather uninformative. Bodies will change their position and position from the star depending on their orbit as said above. Your position marker can be right on a station on the system map, but in reality the station can be 300,000ls away from you on the other side of the star.

I don't see the point. If you're at a location and are at least a halfway competent player, you already know where you are. If you aren't at a location, trying to mark it on a 2D not-to-scale map doesn't make any sense either.

If they ever implement the "orrery" map, then it would make more sense.
