Feature suggestion: Station Depot

After I wrote and shared my first feature suggestion with my squadron, they came up with ways to improve it and suggested additional features. One of these is the station depot feature.
This feature suggestion builds on my original post: 'Feature suggestion: Multicrew cargo space sharing'.

Discription:
In terms of overall structure, this feature would be similar to the fleet carrier system.

The idea is to create a storage facility at stations where commodities can be kept and then retrieved later.
The storage space should not be unlimited or free of charge.

Similar to the fleet carrier system, the 'depot' would cost a certain amount of credits per week of rented storage space.
If the player can no longer support the cost of the depot, the commodities inside would automatically be sold at the purchase price.

This new feature could be coupled with "multicrew cargo space sharing" to allow crew members to store commodities in stations while in multicrew and retrieve them later in their own ships.

Pros and cons:
Cons:
- Can be difficult to implement.

Neutral:
- Requires balancing of weekly credit costs and maximum rentable space.

Pros:
  • Adds additional gameplay mechanics to Multicrew.
  • Could support players in colonisation efforts and trade-oriented community goals.

Conclusion:
This suggestion would be a valuable addition to the features I have already proposed, and it would be a shame to implement it alone.
Overall, this feature would introduce new logistical gameplay to Elite Dangerous, enabling players to plan and manage their commodities for future use.
