Newcomer / Intro Fed/Imp Rank - Rank Up Amount per Mission?

Does anyone know or have discovered how many missions approximately one must complete in order to reach the 100% for fed/imp rank?
Ex: complete 100 courier missions total before rank up mission is offered.

I've looked for anything in guides and different threads that answer this, but haven't found anything. It may be that the specifics are unknown to everyone except the devs. I just hope that someone might know something pertaining to mission amount.

I assume that mission types and their varying amounts of reputation rewards can affect the rank up percentage rate and should be put into account.

Any help answering this question would be awesome.

Question is - is it mission REP or only mission count? Some sources seem to indicate that REP plays a role, but those claims I could find were fourth-hand at best, and even then only from around 2.2.

From my (currently) single observation point (i.e. yesterday), each REP ++ misson seemed to give ~1 percentage point when going from Count to Earl. I.e., started with 90%, did maybe five mission, finished at 95% 🤷‍♂️. If REP +++++ were correspondingly more effective, I might forego the 2MCr. per mission.

On the other hand - is there still any way to force an imperial station to be blown up? Those rescue missions seemed to have been very effective.

The biggest factor impacting the rank % gained is the amount of reputation awards for each mission i.e. how many rep +'s you get for completing the mission. If you want to focus on rank focus on only taking the missions and rewards with the most rep+++++. I just finished imperial up to Duke and this was my approach. Did most of the run to Duke (from about 10%) doing rescue and recovery missions at Paresa. Burning stations are great because you can turn around 8-10 missions per 15 minute run at usually +++ rep each mission. As far as how many it takes, as others have said there are other factor's playing into it so it is hard to say.

Perhaps the Neo-Marlinists have some ideas after Paresa? 😅 Tbh, I did try some rescue missions, but didn't seem to affect my fed rank up too much....but I'll give it another try with my Imp rank next time another one blows up.

Ashnak and Horse372; looking into it further, I definitely agree that the REP has a greater effect on rank up. I guess mission amount would only reliably work if the player were to take only one type of missions with the same amount of REP per each. I think I'll try experimenting a little in game with the REP to percentage increase to get an idea of how much might be added per REP.

Also I think the ratio changes with rank, the higher ranks seemed to take longer to move between than the lower ones.

Totally agree. It's quite infuriating, but also makes sense to make the higher ranks progressively more difficult to achieve.

I ultimately understand that knowing exactly how much REP is needed to reach 100% won't change the amount of time it takes at the grind, but to me it drives me crazy not knowing how much more I need to do! 😝

I always assumed that like the Elite rankings each new rank required as much as all the previous ranks combined so that when you reach the penultimate rank you are halfway to the top.

Like with everything in ED, the amount of work required to complete a rank increases as the rank rises. Doing the same missions all the time, it'll take something like 10 times as many to complete the top rank as a bottom one.

can i ask these players in the thread...right now,
i have 100% rep with 100% rank in federation at chief petty officer ,
also i did advance to 100% rep with 100% rank as a serf in Imperial ...

must i wait for these to promote me before i continue completing missions???
because i did some missions and there was not any advances in status .

thanks elite commanders

You might as well have started a new thread, this one is getting a bit oldish. We stopped rationing them when FD switched to the new forum SW a few years ago 😁.

Nah, seriously - this is the Newcomers subforum, so we don't just respond with snarky comments.

Yes - you can continue collecting brownie points. Your status will keep on accumulating in the background, whether you are promoted or not. You just won't see how far along the grind you are, that's all. Depending on where and how you are rep'ing up, there will be no rank progression missions at that station at all (e.g. if you're rescueing people from burning stations), so your progression bar can visually be stuck at (in your case) 100% CPO, while you actually have amassed enough rep for Rear Admiral.

Once you get to a station that can actually hand out rank progression missions (and rep up with the local faction so you can actually take them), you will then get multiple rank progression missions in a row, until you've "used up" all that surplus rep.

As has been said your ranks continue to increase in the background, there have been people that found they needed two or three rank up missions in a row before they got of 100% rank.
