Fed Navy Ships at last!

BUT.......................

From having a peruse of the scant info on the Wiki it looks like the Drop Ship II will be faster and more nimble than the Mk I (but by how much? My Gran is faster and more nimble than the Mk I) but with fewer internal compartments.
And The Fed Gunship will be bigger and less agile and quick than the Drop ship Mk II. Does that make the Gun boat more of an improved Drop Ship Mk I and the Drop Ship Mk II is more of a fighter?

Does that make either of the new Fed Navy ships desirable to a multi-roller like me?
I ranked up a fair bit in the Fed Navy so it would be nice to buy a nice shiny Fed exclusive ship .

Wait....they're making 3 dropships now?

1 new drop ship and a gun ship + the old drop ship. 3 in total.

Hopefully with the Corvette down the line (1.5).

Also the Condor will be in CQC but I am not sure that will make it to the main game as a pilotable ship, as was said not to have space for a FSD.

The corvette should come in 1.5 alongside the cutter and I can understand why it would be unfair to introduce those ships separately.

As far as multi-roles go. The gunship is supposed to have the best shields out of those 3, which I assumed would be by also allowing a bigger module size in order to cut back on the diminishing returns from hull mass. So out of the 3, I'd say it's the most likely candidate for being able to have bigger cargo capacity as well.

New Fed ships are fine by me, but where are the freakin' passengers?
8 months since release, and orca/dropship owners are still waiting.

I NEEEED the condor, and although it cant have a FSD, it should fit in a anaconda as a support.

This!
Although we shouldn't have to wait until Horizons for this content, I am hopeful that the expansion will finally bring something in the way of passenger missions.

Pretty sure it was said somewhere the MkII dropship would have more guns and better shields, as well as being more nimble.
If that's the case, it might be worth a look since in all honesty the FDS isn't really that bad. Or rather, it's a good baseline on which to improve.

Looking forward to the Gunship, but there are rumours it'll be a turret ship, which doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.
I was hoping for something like a federal clipper-- i.e an exceptional ship for the price, but excelling in combat rather than trading/smuggling/pirating.
Combat ability on par with the python shouldn't be too much to ask if you think about it.

Now now.

Let's be reasonable, we can't have anyone else other than the empire have power creeped (for their prices) ships, can we?

In the Xbone trailer you can see the Condor heading out of CQC and into a Coriolis Starport. This was referenced on a recent Q&A I think.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]No doubt it would be an excellent low-orbit fighter due to its manoeuvrability. I really look forward to keeping one on whichever planet it make my home base.

Perhaps there will be missions to take passengers to and from colonies on planets as an introduction to the mechanic? Speculation obviously.

I don't get the dropship, what on Earth is it for? Why do we need another one?

Dropship is a significantly better combat ship than most people give it credit for. After the 50% price cut down to 19M for the hull it is an interesting purchase if you aren't looking for a Vulture or the next cargo platform up from a T6.
