Ships Federal Corvette Cockpit Shuttle?

If you look closely at the Corvette it seems the cockpit is a separate part sitting on top of the main ship. It looks to me like some sort of shuttle craft, maybe for docking at outposts. Could be a very useful addition for traders. What do you think?

I doubt it a lot, as it doesn't have any visible thrusters. I could be wrong, though.

Buy 300 tonns of explosives. Set Corvette to collision course with station. Detach shuttle and FSD away with maniacal laugh.

I don't think corvette is going to be a good ship for traders anyway.

I'm not sure about a docked shuttle but it does look kind of modular, almost as if it could be replaced with a different cockpit later on.

Given that this is 'only' a large sized ship, not very large, seems unlikely, though could have been cool.

Point a pair of gimballed Huge PAs as far down as they will go and shoot the cockpit off the front like matchbox powertrack car up the chimney (not that I ever did that, of course...)

Ok, lets say that you could detach from the main body of the ship and dock at the outpost. That wouldnt help you much as a trader since all your stuff is still in the cargo bay of the ship. Best you would be able to do would be to pick up and turn in missions. You couldnt even refuel.

Picking up and turning in missions, handing in bounties and combat bonds, paying fines etc would already be a huge boon. I hope that will be possible with launchable fighters eventually.

Actually... I'd almost say it looks like it moves to the front, so the whole front section could detach and turn it into two medium ships...
