Just a little question about them:

Is it a bug, or armor plates covering huge HPs being not painted is intended? It really feels weird and off, especially considering that those are almost 30% of ship's hull area.

Added a poll to see whether or not people like that.

They are actually painted. They are painted a dark gray rather than the normal gray-blue color of the Corvette, so it's definitely intended.

I think it looks good on some paintjobs and a little off on others

A gold Cobra 3/4 would be nice, too.

I voted no but I assume the covers are separate textures that aren't replaced by a paintjob, maybe it's just a lot of work to produce a paintjob to cover every inch of the ship model rather than just the major hull areas.

Covers are chrome on the chrome paint job.

Strange. Plates are chrome on chrome paintjob, but default on all other paintjobs (except black friday).
