Federal Covert Ops against Eranin? (IT'S A CONSPIRACY)

Fellow pilots!

Many of you still remember the Terran Federation's ill-fated attempt to force the independent colony of Azeban in the Eranin system back under its heel. Some of us even signed up to help the Eranin militia repulse an invasion attempt by one of their so-called Intervention Fleets, either by intercepting their strike wings in space, or by delivering medical goods to the besieged capital.

Well, looks as if Halsey -- or perhaps her gung-ho navy and its rogue admiral -- have not forgotten about this slight just yet.

Pursuing a mark from Eranin into the nearby Anarchy system LP-98 132, I noticed the pirate I was chasing running to get help from a pack of short range fighters. Here's a recording of what my ship's IFF transponder picked up:

Notice something? For those of you not familiar with the locals, the Brotherhood of LP-98 132 is a band of pirates operating out of a neutral space station by the name of Freeport, and somehow they've managed to grow ballsy enough to expand into Eranin airspace about a month ago.

We've already heard GalNet reports about Federal black ops teams sponsoring rebels and agitators on Azeban City. Is this the next step? Hiring pirates to do their dirty work? Giving them military hardware to destabilise another independent system so their navy can waltz in and "establish law and order"?

Fly save, and don't trust these guys.

(( yeah, it's probably a bug - but even if it's just coincidence, it fits so perfectly into the game's history so far :D ))

Elite definitely is full of imagination... Thats for sure.

Yeah, it's great, I can make up my own story to go along with my travels instead of being told what's going on. It's nice to be given a basis that you can build on since you're the only one who knows exactly how you'd like your story to go. Proper freedom is hard to find in video games.
