Federal Dropship - A second look

Is there any scope for the guys over at FD to overhaul the Dropship, the poor thing is really in no mans land among the hierarchy of ships...

I really enjoy career progression in this game and favour the Federation, it’s a real kick in the nuts that the first Fed ship you get to unlock is (for many new players) far to expensive to buy and outfit and those that know the game well will simply opt to save and buy a Python.

By comparison the empire gets the Imperial eagle without even needing a rank up quickly followed by the Courier which is a perfectly affordable (and brilliant) ship.

I honestly wouldn’t mind if the Dropship was nerfed slightly (class 5 core internals to lower its overall price tag) in favour of a more bearable (read useable!) jump range and handling. Give it a Fighter Hangar at least...

At present it’s a real lump of expensive junk. A bump in the road for all midshipmen...

I love this ship and feel it’s a crying shame that it’s underused and laughed at by many of the community!

huh? what are you talking about?

i flew the FDS for more then half of the time i'm playing this game.
the only thing i ever found wrong about it, was the lack of activities that would honor its name.

what you ask for is already implemented in form of FAS and FGS,
and what you say about imperial ships... please continue with what comes after the i-courier (that is comparable with a vulture).
there comes the clipper, that may be a better hauler, but already cannot land on outposts and costs much more...

It's one of the best ships in game for killing Thargoids Other than that, it's mostly a 20-30% worse Python, with 60% cheaper top-end armor options, better hardpoint locations and a total crazy fun flight model with DD 5. It's mostly the victim of the Python being an unbalanced mess that is making half of the ships in this game obsolete. If anything the Python should be toned down.

Maybe you should first try to max it out before you propose to change it?

But the rest, sure. I have nothing against putting it a little bit higher up in the ranks and introducing a cheaper ship at its current rank. It is really expensive to outfit it right and it needs a lot of Engineering to shine. But please, don't nerf its combat capabilities, only so you can get a little bit more comfort while traveling around the bubble.

Altough. I would totally give it a bigger fuel tank.
