Federal Equivalent to Fehu?

I'm trying to grind some Federal rank and was wondering if there is a Federal equivalent to Fehu? I've been to Tun and there is nothing there so that has been nerfed quite effectively. I'm not interested in mode-switching so I'm looking for a system that has a decent number of Federal missions available. I'm not necessarily looking for the quick cash donation missions as those are not very efficient any more (especially when they reach around 200k or more) but I will certainly use any donation missions I encounter up to around 125k or so. I'm really looking for something equivalent to Fehu's long-haul donation missions where there is not a huge amount of credits invested but you can do the missions fairly efficiently.

Sorry bud but I will put it straight out there that if you aren't interested in mode switching, navy ranking is going to be looooong.

Well at Fehu I can stack maybe 4-6 long-haul donation missions, plus maybe do another 3-4 relatively low or mid-priced donation missions (i.e., 125k or less) and get around 10% rank per hour at Baron level which works out to around 1% per mission without mode switching. The issue is that these missions are all centralized at Fehu with multiple Empire factions and the only missions those factions offer is donation missions. If there is an equivalent for this for Federal rank where I can get several missions at the same location that is what I am looking for. I am currently at Ensign and am probably going to stop my rank grind for a bit once I get to Lieutenant so I can focus on some Powerplay activities. I'm not really looking to get to Rear Admiral in the near future and for that I would probably have to accept mode-switching as necessary.

I'd have though Sol (if you've got the permit) would be an ideal centre for Fed ranking or my start system LHS 1914 it has a lot of Fed aligned stations, try using EDDB to find a suitable location with plenty of Fed missions

yes, playing around sol is a good way, too - i went from rear admiral to vice admiral starting somewhere in the mudddle looking for modular terminals.

No Idea what it is like now of course and have already done my Fed ranking, but IIRC I did a fair amount of it hauling from 17 Draconis.......

I did my ranking at Tun recently. It took a while but it worked just fine. I guess you want something faster than running a bunch of deliver missions. I don't know of any, so far.

I'll post my video here in case it helps. I did figure out which systems were the best to take deliveries to/from, and that is shown in the video.

Good luck. Ranking is pretty slow nowadays.

Location for ginding Fed rank

Specific location does not appear to matter much so long as the pilot has their goal straight in their head. Want to grind Fed rank? Try large pop, technical locations (lots of "biowaste") in Fed space and focus less on the cash. Want lots of cash? Rank-grinding will suffer because the most lucrative jobs will not always be offered by the faction you are trying to grind. Want to haul lots of cargo? Ignore the USSs! FOCUS on your goals.

Do not allow yourself to be distracted and tripped up: If you decide to get curious and carry a hold full of rare cargoes into a USS you deserve to get ROBBED!

Anyhow currently running donation & delivery missions etc. out of Haller City (Barnard's Star), 5 or 6 federation factions here, mostly single-hop missions, many to the same system, even the same stations, making decent cash per run, not Ceos/Sothis money but even making 1,000,000 donations, etc. I am maintaining a credit balance as well as gaining rank every other day or so (2-3 hrs./day). My Asp-X was too small in cargo capacity, Anaconda too large in size for many missions/stations, I keep switching back-and-forth (Libra) take your pick. Usually I am buying up rares as I run around the bubble and when they start to interfere with my cargo cap, it is Ceos/Sothis time! Run the rares out to Ceos/Sothis and bring 400 tons of doo-doo back to the bubble earning some fast credits.

The Federation equivalent of Fehu is 17 Draconis. In 2.0, it not only had long haul courier missions but also a ton of donation missions.

When I stopped by in 2.1, it only had donation missions. I've heard similar reports about Fehu. Honestly, I'm getting mixed messages about stations on both sides, so take it all with a grain of salt.

All I can say for sure is that in 2.0, grinding Fed rank was a joke; I got my Corvette in no time at all. Meanwhile, Empire grind was a pain. In 2.1, it seems like the grind on both sides is a pain.

Thanks, I'm at 17 Draconis now and it does indeed look to be the Federal equivalent to Fehu. I only see credit donation missions available so unfortunately there aren't any of the long-haul commodoity donation missions (or any other missions for that matter). I've just been accepting any donation missions 300k or less as the more expensive donation missions don't see worthwhile as they don't have a proportionally greater contribution to your rank progression. I figure that I can make the 5-10 million credits I'll spend to go from Ensign to Lieutenant back again with a single Sothis run so it will only really be an hour worth of gameplay to make the money back (plus the time spent waiting for the donation missions to refresh, but at least that's not difficult).

I have found that Empire ranking so far to get to Viscount was reasonable but it does seem to get worse the higher you get. Part of the issue is that there is very little reason to go beyond Ensign/Baron unless you're going all the way to Rear Admiral/Duke to gain access to the Corvette/Cutter. Essentially they have set up a massive rank grind with no intermediate goals after Ensign/Baron. I would like to eventually get a Corvette/Cutter but don't see any "efficient" way to get there without investing a huge amount of time and money. I'm pretty happy with my Python so far but I think the 2.1 rank grind we have is a massive issue in terms of keep me interested in upgrading my ship long-term.
