Federal Gunship all-multicannon Engineering suggestions

New toy time!

So, in terms of the MCs, what Engineering would people suggest? I'm thinking corrosive on one of the small MCs and some sort of thermal mod on one of the larger ones (for getting rid of shields), but I'm open to ideas. PVE.

Overcharge the larges and the mediums. Either overcharge the smalls, or high-cap them to account for the fact that they run out first otherwise. Put corrosive on one of the smalls, incendiary on the other and two of the mediums, and just autoloader the rest. Bind them all to the same trigger.

Get a C6 biweave (thermal resist / fast charge) and a fighter hanger in the 6-slots and fill the rest with hull reinforcements and two module reinforcements. Reactive armour. Heavy duty/deep plating on the armour and all but your smallest HRP, which should be thermal resist / deep. Put an AFMU in there somewhere.

For utilities, I use two chaff and two resist-augged boosters.

There's probably better and even on my own build I can see ways to squeeze improvements out of it once I've got more mats, but this is completely adequate for anything you'll meet in PvE short of trying to solo a wing assassination. Plus let's face it, huge amounts of dakka is just plain fun to fly, effectiveness be damned.

Awesome. Thank you.

Ah, I've not done any PP yet. That's a grind too far even for me.
Mate, it's the simplest form of grind there is in this game. Join up with the PP of your choice, do nothing for 3 weeks, just Ignore it, then on your 3rd week and before the PP update on a Thursday morning (I do it Wednesday night) go to an opponents PP page and find out where the nearest place is to shoot their ships. You get 30 points per ship kill, and you need 750 points for the tick over on Thursday. (Thats 25 ships to kill, takes about 30-40 mins). then go to your Powerplay nearest system and cash them in. You are now level 3 in that PP and entitled to the weapon, wait for the tick on Thursday and that weapon appears in your weapon shop to buy as long as you remain level. Buy loads of them and store them to engineer at a later date.

Leave that Power and join another, then repeat above.

Really is so easy and for 30-40 mins of killing easy PvE traders/weak escort ships.

Personally I just search EDDB for "Security: Anarchy" and "Power Effects: Control" and scroll down the list until I hit the nearest one that's an enemy power so I don't have to worry about cops showing up.

Hmmmm...strokes chin...tempting... :)

Powerplay merits can also be earned by delivering materials to nearby stations. You need to deliver 750t so the number of runs depends upon your ship cargo capacity. I normally do a couple of runs in my Cutter. The materials are time released but this can be expedited by paying 100,000 credits per 10t, so 7.5 million credits is required in total. This method will take you 15-30 minutes tops, so no grind required.

I've been playing on/off since December 2014. I only started PP a couple of months ago as I fancied the Prismatic Shield - worth the wait btw. I'm now on my third faction.

Indeed :) and while you're about it, theres no harm popping into 'their' discord channel. Warm welcome assured, no obligation beyond whatever you want, and an immense amount of practical assistance and advice on-tap for pledges. And its all text-chat there so no need to even clear your throat :)

But if they offer you quiche, don't eat it.

Its a fair point, it's a virtue signalling quiche. it's vegan quiche so nobody eats it, and its been sitting on the side for quite a while.
Having said that if youre getting cytoscramblers and a pirate offers you a Kumo Burger, the only ethical thing to do is try to return it to the grieving family for a proper burial. (Can you bury a burger on sacred ground?) Some say eating people is Old, and Problematic. ;)

The Kumo only eat the stupid, so if said relative was formed into a burger I expect the family would be happy the individual was finally being useful.

I forgot to add, for premium Enforcer dakka noises go for rapid fire- it does however introduce some wobble and the ammunition goes pretty quickly. I had 3 on an Eagle and mucho ear candy was heard. But, for best results go for OC with autoloader. Non stop bombom

Aah, the eternal struggle between fun and practical

like putting rapid-fire on as many packhounds as you can load onto a cheap ship, sure you'll cook yourself and run out of ammo in pretty much under a minute but boy if it isn't fun

Long range the four mediums with incendiary rounds. High Cap the two smalls, one corrosive and the other emissive. The large is your closer, so whatever you feel comfortable with. Set the fire groups apart - mediums and the small emissive on one trigger, the remaining two on the second.

Long range until you can close with the large hardpoint or good old smashie smashie.

Thanks for that. Why the emissive, out of interest?

If you want a gentle guiding hand to start you off, let me know and we can meet in the black and i'll point you, wind you up and let you go :)

I've just realised how many mats I'm going to have to gather/trade to get all this lot spruced up.

Uuuuurgh.

But having these PP weps and shields stored means you can do that 'Grindy Bit' at your leisure. IMHO, and this will cause a huge discussion there are only the following worth doing PP for:
Prismatic Shields
PackHounds
Enforcer Canon
Imperial Hammer
Cryptoscrambler (Spelling and not really sure about this one)

One point worth thinking about for 5 secs is that when you side with a PP, you can become a target more for Cmdrs especially as you go into their systems you are tagged as 'Enemy', which means you can be attacked and killed and the attacker will not get a naughtyboy sticker even if you are not wanted, but that is quite rare.

Anyhows, offer is there mate if you fancy getting into PP for the weps.
